Is PCPilot reputable?

Al I for one appreciate the time and effort you are putting into your reviews and I think most AVSIM reviews are honest and objective. People will always want different things from the products that they buy so I can understand its not always an easy job. The AVSIM review mentioned here for the CS757 is not the same as the version being sold in the box here in the UK so I cannot comment on that review. The problem with the boxed version is that it seems complete with all avionics and different variants including the freighter version but it lacks even the most basic 2.1 upgrade which makes it virtually unflyable. I cannot even get the engines started because the throttle pedestal is missing in the 2D cockpit and there seem to be even more serious issues when flying as mentioned above. This just does not fit in with a five star reviews on the product page and the high ratings in PC Pilot. I guess I am just ticked off because nobody seems to be interested in finishing this product for FS9 which is a shame. I am looking into downloading the free panel available here or perhaps trying the simavionics upgrade and building a custom panel but that will still mean no apu, irs etc.I used to like PC Pilot for the tutorials but there is a lot of stuff out there on the net which you can download. Most of the content seems to be related to FSX now.

If I'm right in remembering reading this snippet myself, I'm going to say that's from either the Level-D 767, or PMDG 747.

And I'm happy to do that because I like writing and I like reviewing, so that could easily mean reviewing something I'm not keen on
Good to hear that. But still it is difficult to find reviews that do not emphasize positive aspect of the product. Any criticism is often relegated to "what I did not like" column. My ideal reviewer would be pretty knowledgeable about the aircraft and could tackle both positive and negative aspects in the main body of the review with equal zeal for objectivity. And, ideally, if there is some gray area it would be nice to get opinion how it measures against other products - sort of high level overview where this product fits in the wide range of simulation add-ons.

I think you make a fair point there Michal. Often minus points are somewhat outweighed by plusses on reviews, although I do try to pull up the errors in reviews I do. Check out my review of the Shockwave Me bf109E here on Avsim for an example of where I have done that - I made quite a detailed analysis of the errors on the external model by overlaying a real bf109E blueprint with some screenshots and comparing some other screenshots with photographs of the real thing.I haven't seen many reviews that go to those lengths, but you'll see other aircraft reviews by me where I've made similar criticisms and done similar comparisons too. Check out the recent First Class Simulations 'Around the World in 80 Flights' review I did, where I even see how the Lockheed Electra model stacks up against freeware Electras, with comparitive screenshots, and I mention stuff which I think needs patching or correcting with regard to incorrect fuel capacity and engines stats in the configuration file. I even tell you how to go about correcting some of these errors. Here's a link to that particular Shockwave bf109E review I mentioned, look for a top-down picture of the 109 about halfway through the review under the heading 'Cowling conundrum'. See the screenshots in that part of the review and read the accompanying text to see that I do not pull any punches with regard to a mistake in the model: http://www.avsim.com/pages/1107/bf109/bf109.htmAl
