FS9 Shuts down in the middle of flight

Featured Replies

I have a new issue where I'm in the middle of a flight and flightsim shuts down and goes to straight to the desktop without any error messagesAnyone have any suggestions on a patch to fix this? I really don't want to re-install FS9 again :(

There is no patch to fix that. A CTD with no messages is a good sign of a bad AFCAD file somewhere in your system. You need to try disabling your add-on sceneries to try and isolate the problem file. You should also check that you have no duplicate AFCAD files for the same airport. It is a tedious process, and I have done it a number of times. In all cases I was able to find a "bad" file/scenery and once removed, all was working again.Good luck. :)

Actually, it doesn't have to be a "bad" AFCAD file, it can just be more than one file for the same airport. There is a utility here in the library called ScanAFD which may well find the problem for you.Certainly worth a try as it beats re-installing.

It would help if you can give more details about your flight (plane, add-on scenery, location, etc)

Thanks for the adviceI have FS Navigator and Active Sky Weather running while flyingAll airports start out fine except ABQ which is an add on airportWhen i go there, the system shuts down right awayI'll try and disable all afcads for ABQ and see if that works

Use ScanAFD as mentioned before.

If this is a "new issue", what has changed between the last successful flight and your first CTD? What did you install in FS or otherwise on your system?
