CTD on Boxed version

Featured Replies

HiI recieved my boxed version of the MD 11 last saturday I have conducted 7 flights, 6 beingthe tutorial heathrow to Zurich and 1 being cardiff to Glasgow. I am sorry to reportthat in all flights I have experienced a CTD, with the error message that my "machine has run out of memory alter graphics close application etc"I am somewhat dismayed as am running Vista 32 bit os with an Intel e6400 chip (not overclocked) with 2gig of ramand a nvidia 8800gts. i am not running in DX10 mode. To be honest this is the only aircraft in my extensive collection that has ever caused a CTD.I have altered my virtual swap file to no avail, i am a little concerned considering the cost of the product. I have several PMDG products all of which run perfectly well. In actual fact the MD11 is superb displaying no problems at all at 30fps. I can't roll back to an earlier version as the version Ihave as stated is a boxed edition from your partners aerosoft. The only addon I am running is UTX. I look forward to a possible solution. Vista is a known RAM hog, and you need about 2Gb MINIMUM if you plan on playing FSX, even at its lowest settings. If you want to crank up the sliders, and/or use addon scenery and airplanes, you probably need 4Gb of RAM. I even experienced issues using the PMDG MD-11 with 4Gb of RAM, so I upgraded to 8Gb and I no longer experience Out of Memory (OOM) errors. Are you using a single 2Gb stick, 2x 1Gb sticks or 4x 512Mb sticks? The best solution would be to add another 2Gb of RAM. Then, when Windows 7 is released this fall, get the 64bit version. Another short-term solution would be to turn down the sliders and uninstall UTX.

I find your comments somewhat hard to believe considering the minimum specs publ;ished on the rear of the case, whilst VISTA is a memory hog 2 gig of ram should be sufficient for noth it and FSX, The solution of upgrading to a 64bit os seems also quite ludicrous.I will wait tos ee if ther are any other commenst that make a little more sense.Wycliffe

2GB of RAM is plenty, just make sure your paging file size is at least 2GB as well. The PMDG birds tend to stress FSX memory-wise more than other addons... therefore if there exists a memory leak with some addon, or due to scenery (even if it's small), you will get "out of memory" issues more often with PMDG. BTW, there are no known memory leaks with the PMDG birds themselves.Do a search in this forum, you will find plenty of discussion regarding out of memory cases, and solutions.
