So Happy
I'm curious, how much did you actually mess with the RAM to try to fix it before you restored? On my motherboard, I have to manually set the timings, the divider, and voltages for the RAM otherwise the motherboard will load a much slower profile. Did you try this?

Dash 8 & 737
Ryan, would you mind PMing me your FSX xfg file or uploading it to the forums? I just upgraded to a Core i7 920, and currently have it sitting at 4.2GHz, but I can only get 15fps on the ground at Heathrow 2008 with REX and the Captain Sim 757, with all the sliders to the right.

Intel Core i7 975 3.33Ghz
flyingfanatic333 replied to Delta_Yankee2's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcAs someone said earlier, if you really want to spend that kind of money on a CPU, wait for the Core i7 980X (a.k.a the Core i9) to come out. It will have two extra cores, more L3 cache, and it will be fabricated on the 32nm process, which will allow higher overclocks and lower temps.Honestly, if you are only using FS, go for a 920 (or 930 if you wait two months), overclock it a little, and it will be fine. FSX has trouble using four cores as it is, so spending an extra $1000 for two additional cores will really not be a good decision. Use the extra money to get a better GPU, power supply, etc.

Monitor versus HDTV's
I'd go with the largest monitor that you can afford. The problem with true HDTVs (Plasmas or LCDs) is that they are limited to resolutions of 1920x1080. While this is fine if you are sitting 8 feet away from the screen, if you are sitting 2-3ft away as you would be if you are at a desk, many things (especially text) will begin to look slightly pixelated. If you can't afford a large monitor, using two or three smaller ones is also a posibility. I'm using two 22" LCDs now and I love it. The only downside is that you need Dual/Triple Head 2 Go or a new ATi HD5xxx card if you want to stretch single monitor programs (like FSX and other games), across both screens.

2D panels?!
Wow! Even more than the MD-11?

PMDG 777!
Mistakes happen. Maybe your topic was lost amount the 100s of "J41 Help" threads that have been popping up. Maybe a mod deleted it by accident. Seeing as how quickly topics can be bumped to the 5th, 6th, 7th pages, it quite possible have been overlooked. May I suggest emailing the PMDG support staff? They are excellent, and they did a great job of helping me out when I had problems with my 737NG.So what if your topic was deleted. This is a privately owned and operated forum, so the Mods have every right to delete topics and posts as they see fit. But, if they do it too much, they will starting losing customers, so it affects them in the long run.

Does J41 have any onboard GPS system?
The FMS is very easy to use - it is easier to learn on than the regular Boeing and Airbus FMSs. You type in your departure airport, select the departure runway and SID, program the fixes (just like a FMS), and then select the STAR and arrival airport. They you just insert your cruise altitude, transition altitude, pax/cargo weight, and fuel reserves, and you're done!

One last suggestion please...
I know this may sound stupid, but are all of your bus ties connected?

J41 - Spoilers don't retract
Yes, I sometimes see it, even at the normal Vref. ANother thing I noticed is after I do a turnaround, when I move the throttles forward sometimes the spoilers deploy or quickly "flash up and then back down.

The PMDG JS4100 on YouTube
Hey Vin - great video! May I ask what recording program you used?

for a beginner...
Depends on what you are into. The MD-11 is more flexible, but the 747 has a greater range.I'd chose the MD-11 because it is different. The 747 (procedure wise) is basically like flying any other large Boeing.

Getting Angry
Once the prop is unfeathered, you have to pull the throttle into reverse, which will engage the lock. Then you can turn off the unfeather pump.
-
J41 pulling to the right
Lol, I've done that a few times myself. However, once you get used to the little quirks with the engines, they are pretty easy to handle.

I cant start any engine?
Oh, thank you! that will save me some time in the future. :(
-
I cant start any engine?
Once you burn the engine, you can't start it again. You have to reload the aircraft.

J41 Black Screens (EADI,EHSI,FMS) in Cockpit
Did you try adjusting the brightness of the displays? I believe the controls are on the overhead.

PMDG J41 Stop Latches
If you look in the tutorial - it is near the end. But there really is no procedure, just push the STOP buttons and put the throttles into reverse as the RPMs come through 50% to engage the Start Locks.

Thanks for another truly impressive product
+100.Honestly, when I saw the MD-11, I was blown away. But with the J41, I can't even put it into words how impressed I am with it. If this is what the future is like at PMDG, I can't wait to see what the NGX and Dash 8 look like. Keep it up!
