PMDG DC-6 360 Cockpit view video released
The DC6 looks like its going to be a tour de force for PMDG, but I have to admit I do feel quite ambivalent about the plane itself. I think this is because I am not a fan of the old turbos, I suspect I will get it as Iwill probably do a review, I just cant get excited about it. Wycliffe

PMDG DC-6 360 Cockpit view video released
Sorry guys but you are missing the point, Facebook is valid method of communication whether it be to a like minded community or distant family members. It's immediate and accessible. To dismiss it out of hand is narrow minded and blinkered in my humble opinion. Further to suggest people of a certain age have no interest in social media is offensive.

PMDG DC-6 360 Cockpit view video released
Artur i am deeply offended by your comment. I am 62 yrs old I have a facebook account, twitter feed, Instagram and a youtube channel. My Facebook group is one of the premier facebook groups dedicated to Xplane and my Youtube channel continues to grow with new subs each day. I use Periscope and Whats app. Your Comment suggests that over 40s are not tech savvy and have no interest in the multimedia experience. For those who do not embrace the world of multimedia I'm sorry to say but you are luddites, on the other hand any technology sufficiently advanced enough for others not to understand it, might consider it to be nothing more than magic. Seems, just overnight---the XP franchise...has blossomed, yep.
This thread was posted to me this morning and I thought having read it how good it is. I have been using xplane 10 since 2012. I knew from the first flight that it was going to be the best simulation platform on the market. I like countless others had spent a small fortune on FSX, but found myself spending more time fixing, fiddling, tweaking than flying. It was time for it to go, I have never looked back. I had managed to make a name for myself in the flight sim community just by being a good egg, controlling on VATSIM and helping peopple with what little knowledge i had about FSX that I could. I have since converting to xplane become a scenery developer, a well respected beta tester in the xplane world, I have met with some of the most respected developers in the xplane world and created Xplane Dedicated. A facebook group, a youtube channel, a live broadcast channel on twitch TV and a scenery development group called XPDDG. All i ask of anyone that joins is that they follow the simple rules. I have built a community that will never call anyone stupid, will not shout at anyone and only has family friendly language. I have only banned 8 members for breaking these rules, I think that is a good record. I have done all this just to promote xplane. I recieve no monies for anything I do. It's really quite simple. The releases pending in the next couple of months will blow everything that is available on the other platform clean out of the water, but that said, as I always say if your happy with your sim of choice an it works for you then just keep flying. I dont really care what others fly, I'm just happy that I saw sense and now can fly trouble free. All the best Wycliffe Barrett www.facebook.com/groups/xpdedicated www.youtube.com/wycliffeb www.twitch.tv/the_xpd

Someone please explain this picture...
Brilliant picture, I thought that Sarah was quite amusing when she was doing whatever it was she was doing politically. She did come out with a whole series of howlers that made for great news coverage over here in the UK. I particularly liked this one. "He who warned, uh, the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh, by ringing those bells, and um, makin' sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed." --Sarah Palin, botching the history of Paul Revere's midnight ride, June 3, 2011 Wycliffe

X-Squawkbox 64-bit (for XPlane) is nearing private BETA!
Hello Being the OP of the post over on the xplane forum and the OP of that thread I feel that perhaps the titl eof the thread has caused some confusion. first off release imminent or otherwise of the VATSIM Member Development Team of a new pilot client is pure supposition on my part. I have no hard and fast facts or dates. The development team have made it quite clear that they will not be driven by the members desire but their own success regarding the development of the client. It is in no way connected to Fsinn, Squawkbox or Xsquawkbox and what developers of those products may or may not be doing. It will be a completely new cient. My original and first post in the xplane forum written in Feb of this year, was indirectly a plea to Mr Ben Supnik and I qoute:- >>Ben, here is where my post addresses you directly, unfortunately your product Xsquawkbox is the only one to market and although there are several cross platform projects taking place in the VATSIM world, converting Xsquawkbox to 64 bit would be the quickest answer. So I am asking once again if you can possibly find the time to do that conversion. I freely admit I am not a programmer, I am more of a visual creator, (picesean) so I have no idea how long it would take for you or anyone to apply the 64bitSDK to Xsquawkbox or if its a total rewrite of the programme, but i do ask if you might not consider spending a little of your finite time on Xsquawkbox. I hope you and all your family, friends and the rest of New England have recovered from the lurgy. (Bubonic Plague) << I recognised the fact that at the time of writing Mr Supnik was heavily involved in work concerning xplane and its 64 bit release etc and that he had finite time. I hope this clears up any confusion that I may have inadvertanly caused. Yours faithfully Wycliffe Barrett

What will be the first PMDG add-on for X-Plane10?
+1 without a doubt and is exactly why I think xplane is the future. Wycliffe

What will be the first PMDG add-on for X-Plane10?
Ricardo, if you take note of what I wrote I was very clear about which aircraft I was talking about and the status of the VC. The VC is being developed EADT have stated it will remain freeware along with the full aircraft which is the x737 Wycliffe Captain Have you listened to Robert Randazzo's keynote address when he discusses Laminar and the work his team are involved in with them. You should give it a listen. Some of his comments around the thinking behind Microsofts failed Flight experiment are enlightening. Wycliffe

What will be the first PMDG add-on for X-Plane10?
I switched to Xplane last year after having spent hundreds if not thousands (including PC upgrades) of £s in getting FSX to run. It worked well and gave me 30fps but with numerous CTD's, OOMs and it was never stutter free. I don't have any of that with xplane i have a steady 50/70 fps depending on situation. We have 64bit capability, we have a T7 comparbale to any of the PMDG aircraft I have owned and whatever money I am spending on xplane is only what I would have spent on the ailing FSX platform. In fact at present in the past year I have spent less money on Xplane than I would have spent in a year with FSX and there are literally thousands of high quality freeware airports available for Xplane. I have myself become a 3rd party freeware developer and created several airports. We dont really need to wait for PMDG when we have Ramzzezs (T7) and Jardesign group (a320neo) making aircraft. The superb 737 from xEADT is the best flight model of a 737 I have ever flown and a freeware 3dvc is being made for that as I type. Even the default Cessna is a visual treat and better than any default aircraft in FSX. This is not hyperbole this is fact albeit from my pespective. All that said I think the reason there is a delay over the T7 by PMDG is that they want to do a simultaneous release onto FSX and Xplane. It makes sense from a business perspective. As has been noted there are a lot of people out there who still fly FSX and will continue to do so, so it makes sense to release onto both platforms. It's what I would do if I was in Mr Randazzo's shoes, and As we all know he has stated that his team are working very closely with laminar to understand the laminar/Xplane software environment. Finally The New A320neo 64bit 1.4 Release!
Hi Someone wanted a review of the a320 from jar design go here http://asn-xp.aerosoft.com/?page_id=238 This review is based on the initial release version. If you have xplane 10 then this is the payware aircraft to buy, along with the triple 7 by ramzzes and phillipp. Wycliffe

The Consolidated PMDG 777 Preview Pictures Thread (56K Stay Away!)
How about this for a conspiracy theory, based on Mr Randazzo's recent keynote address at Fancom. I reckon the team are working with Laminar in an effort to get the T7 ready for a simultaneous release for FSX and X-Plane. It's not oustside the bounds of possibility, we know for a fact that Ramzzes and phillipp have had to put back the release of their 757 because of some issues that have arisen with upcoming releases of X Plane and their aircraft, the same thing could be happening with PMDG and their T7. Well that'ss what I think -_-

Adopted another child into my FLEET
@five I have Peter's a320 but havent used it much as yet as I bought the jardesign a320neo. Does Peters a320 and a380 have custom built FMC's or is he using the default Xplane FMC. Wycliffe

Thinking about going all out!
No Offence but you must have more money than you know what to do with. Save a packet go to www.smartcockpit.com then buy the T7. Wycliffe

Brand New to XP x64 Full Ver
Ryan Hi and welcome, I too was an FSX early adopter but finally dumped it off my HD as i was just getting fed up with stutters, low framerates, OOM's and CTD's. Most of which where unexplained no matter how many times I interrogated the event viewer, I'm no slouch when it comes to tech and over the years had built up somewhat of a rep as a go to guy regarding FSX and hardware. I beta tested all sorts of software for FSX but I just got really p***** with FSX. I have been using Xplane10 since MAY of 2012 and I have to say that straight out of the box there is no comparison with FSX what so ever. Xplane is just way ahead of FSX. Ok there might not be scenery for every airport in the world but you can build your own. In all other regards I would say Xplane is a winner hands down. The first time I did a tip stall in a Cessna I knew I was experiencing something really quite different. Get the default Phantom F4 out and do some hotdogging, very cool, go vertical have a look at the afterburner effect, climb to 60k and have a look outside. All very nice. I have been a simmer for more years than I care to remember and never throughout all that time was I even bothered about scenery development. If I wanted an airport I would buy it. I have a heavy £ investment in FSX, but it was time to make the jump to the future. Now I build an airport, far more gratifying and one has a sense of ownership and pride especially when you upload to the org and get over a few hundred downloads. It makes you feel kind of good. One thing I will say, and to qoute Yoda, "you must unlearn what you have learned", nothing about FSX can be applied to Xplane, it's a whole new world waiting for you. Put the FPS counter away its the devils instrument anyway and will drve you mad, as I always say if it looks good to you then it, and you only need 24 fps anyway. Adjust your settings accordingly don't go crazy and put everything to max it won't work. All the best Enjoy. Wycliffe

Holy Smoke Batman- X-Plane 10 Global in 64-bits!
Hi, been an xp10 user since may 2012, finally dumped my buggy stuttering FSX drive, for the perfectly smooth flight of XP. No more OOMS, no more CTD,s no more tweaking or using Bajotes,s tweaker, no more worrying will I finish my flight. My PC is a monster, v good graphics card and whilst it would run FSX at 30fps it was just becoming a pain in the butt. Nuff said. Wycliffe

XP10 and ATI Cards
To the OP, I have an atiHD 5770 exactly teh same as you on an i5 Sandybridge chip 2500k. Ok now for the info you want, I run XP10:20 32bit at 30fps. keep in mind though you will need to adjust your settings to achieve that, I have tons of roads, populated trees and clouds at 33%, I am very pleased with the results. I have not yet had my XP crash due to out of memory or anything else for that matter. 30fps in XP10 is way different to 30fps in FSX. its smoother more fluid and of course some of the effects of the latest aircraft are just awesome. FMC is laughing at me...737
Hi there, Let me offer an alternative, FS Commander is an excellent product, I placed a tutorial film on you tube some years ago and it has had over 50k hits. I have moved on though to what I consider the best flight planning software on the market and which will allow you to export the flight plan straight to your FMC. EFB by Aivlasoft www.aivlasoft.com Wycliffe Legal statement I am in no way associated with Aivlasoft I receive no monies or favours from Aivlasoft, I am a customer and only offer the reader advice and do not advise you to purchase it but offer you information.

So who's made the switch from FSX?
AHA! See got you there, you can get REX for X plane. I havent looked at it yet myself but yes it's available. http://www.realenvir...com/xplane.html If you look on you tube there are a couple of films made by Austin Meyer of Xplane that really show it off to good effect, if you want to see the Uk photoscenery in action also on you tube Bob Sidwick of RC Simulations has put up a whole series of films do a search for "overtherainbow1213" and you will find them.
