Old computer blues

Featured Replies

Yes, I'm building or buying a new computer for FS9 (and maybe parttime FSX) and sort of getting choked up on my old reliable P4 3.2. She's been part of my family for 5 years. The best $400 I ever spent; I wish I could have broken that down into hours on FS and the enjoyment it has provided. She just runs and runs and runs without complaining or BSOD's or OOM's etc. I know I got to upgrade but gee its hard to get rid of old reliable and hope the new runs just as stable (which I know it probably wont for the first year or two).If this topic is out of place I deeply apologize but this community may understand because my wife just laughs at me and I needed to tell somebody who knows where I'm coming from. Thanks for reading.Sean

Well, as long as you are not using any parts from it as the basis for the new one you are building, then why don't you keep it and have it as a server and back up storage machine? That way if your new one has any teething troubles, you would still be able to run FS on it whilst sorting any issues out.Al

Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Yep I agree with Al , If the old machine is not going to become the parts department , i would be looking at WideFS to see what I could offload , or even better what new WideFS capable software I could use without fear of OOM's Mark

...or you could ship it off to me, as it would be an upgrade for me.hahaha

The best gift you can give your children is your time.
