May 11, 200917 yr Commercial Member Does anyone from PMDG want to react to this thread? And act and contact that site?I just got another one and I am not amused.I received the same email, along with about 50 other spam emails on the same day. I'm a bit surprised people are so upset about spam, as it has been an unavoidable fact of life for over a decade. I delete thousands a year. That being said, PMDG does not share customer email addresses with any third party. PMDG stands by its privacy statement which is published on the PMDG web site at http://www.precisionmanuals.com/priv/pages/copypriv.html.:Precision Manuals Development Group maintains a rigid policy that no money or traded benefit may be received from the sale, trade or sharing of customer information collected during purchase. PMDG will not sell nor offer for sale any information related to customers, customer demographics or customer purchasing behavior in any form to any organization outside of PMDG. Information collected from customers is maintained only for the purpose of purchase transaction and order fulfillment and will not be collected, massed or otherwise manipulated for any purpose other than the purpose for which it is collected. The only exception to this policy is that PMDG customer information may be used to contact customers on occasion with critical information related to their purchased PMDG software.PMDG restricts customer information to only need-to-know members within PMDG and no private customer information will be published or otherwise made available.PMDG will, for the purpose of assisting law enforcement agencies in the investigation of a crime, make specific information available regarding customer behavior and customer purchases only at the request of a bona-fide law enforcement agency. PMDG will also authorize the use of customer information while in the pursuit of Intellectual Property Rights violations of US, Virginia and International law. May 11, 200917 yr Author People are "upset" about this particular spam because it's flight simulator related. How many of those 50 emails were FS related?Viagra, Cialis, no problem, well... but the PMDG MD-11?!I'm not saying you have shared email addresses, but surely you're not happy when someone who resells your product(s) spams? Advertising a single specific certain MD-11...If I were PMDG, I would at the very least contact the spammer and make clear this is unacceptable.I don't think it's a good idea to shrug it off. Mike...
May 12, 200917 yr It's not Avsim guys!! I just got spam from these folks and it was sent to an email address that's only used by two people. My kids and I use it when I'm out of town. The other person is Texas Tech Law school student accounts. Which btw TTU ONLY sends me mail when its time for dear ol'e mom to pay up.I don't understand this :( Sandy O
May 12, 200917 yr Commercial Member Guys,I received this spam to every single one of my email address, most of which have never been used in any way relating to flight sim, including my personal one that I don't give to anyone but family and close friends. We have no idea where they're getting their address list from but it most assuredly is not from PMDG and I doubt it's Avsim either given the fact that addresses not associated with the site (which I'll personally attest to) are getting spammed. We deal with one company for our boxed products and that's Aerosoft - we don't determine at all who sells or markets the boxed version, we just license the product to Aerosoft and they essentially create that product themselves and distribute it to resellers and retailers. (which is probably what this spam company is classified as)Not much we can do - I'll ask Robert about contacting Aerosoft to see if we can get any more information on who's behind this. May 12, 200917 yr I don't think it's a good idea to shrug it off.I do. That's not meant to be offensive, just an expression of opinion. At the end of the day most people probably have more serious things to worry about than a few e-mails - a question of pespective.Again, no offence intended to you and no disrespect to your opinion; just a different opinion.Best regards! Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
