Dell 2209WA 1680 x 1050 display is a true gem

Featured Replies

If you are in the market for a really high quality display at a super low cost, this is it. It's using an e-IPS panel, has superb color uniformity and 178 degree viewing angles, is plenty fast at 5ms, and is built well with a solid and very adjustable stand. 1680 x 1050 is its native resolution. Controls are easy to use. It's only weakness is does not do 1:1 scaling. Has a widescreen and 4:3 option if desired though. I am still considering a 1920 x 1200 display and would love to have this resolution version of this Dell I'm using now. That would be the no-brainer from heaven for sure. This Dell is available to your door for under $230. A true steal!Noel

Noel,Happy to hear as I've got one in the box waiting for me to install. $209 did the trick. Going from a Dell 19" .25 pitch tube to the 2209WA I hope it will live up to expectations.

Noel,I've been looking the last couple of months for a new monitor. I had my choice narrowed down between the Dell 2408WFP & the HP LP2475W. Thanks for mentioning the Dell 2209WA in an earlier post, I wasn't aware of that one. Did my homework on that one, decided to get it & it arrived a few days ago, & I'm very happy with it. Especially with the price, compared to the monitors mentioned above. Thanks again!Mike A.

Noel,How has the monitor worked out for you? Believe it or not, mine is still in the box but coming out this week. Painting and bathroom re-construction take precedence.... :(

I was initially put off, not with the monitor per se, but with the fact a title that is very important to me, Tiger Woods 2004, defaulted to 1280 x 1024 on the Dell, due to its native rez (used to running it at 1600 x 1200 which looks super). But . . . I poked around and discovered some kind soul made a widescreen patch for this, so now it's just great. It's a bit grainier than a 1600 x 1200 screen, with its .282 pixel pitch, but it's grown on me and I find it a very high quality display. When my honey's old Sony CRT goes, I will probably transfer this to her and pick up a 1900 x 1200 display, .27 pixel pitch. I am a total fanatic for image sharpness and lack of graininess, so this rez screen should be a little better than this. I am ok with widescreen now, tho for FSX I'm still not sure which I like more. Pros n cons. Even so, FOR THIS RESOLUTION, this screen gets a gold star in my book. What a price too! It gets a 9.6 of 10.
