May 29, 200917 yr Taking off with heavies using the FMC with autothrottle.....If I'm using the FMC & autothrottle for the whole flight, should I just leave the CH Yoke lever in the firewalled position throughout, until just before touchdown? What do others do with this? Thanks Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
May 29, 200917 yr I retard the game controller throttle to idle when I do my after takeoff chores such as reset flap dial to 15 (MD11). As with any good cockpit procedure, it helps to have a routine that flows from one item to the next in a logical order like an instrument scan. Dan Downs KCRP

The only time I thouch them, other then bringing them to the idle-stop just before touchdown, is when I exit the FSUIPC GUI, and need to resync the current TQ lever positions by nudging them a bit to get the current session to see the axis again. May 29, 200917 yr This may be right or it may be wrong, but after i hit the toga switch, I firewall the throttles. I have had problems with toga reverting to powerlever setting on take off roll. I then leave throttles firewalled even though auto throttle is active and controlling, until i get to cruise. At this point I bring the power levers back to just above idle for the flight. Then idle on descent. After many hours riding in the cockpit, I have had the opportunity to observe what the autothrottle does during flight and try to emulate the positions as i remember them. Hey it keeps the wife and kids from wondering why i bought the silly throttle thingy and dont move it at least as far as they can see. :( John
