PaulI have your old computer w/ an 8800gt. With some tunning, you should have been able to get good performance out of it.I also have close to the intel setup you are looking at. Performance is good enough. I agree with you. I can not spend any more money on computer parts.Bob

Paul; Not sure what's to look forward to in the i5...it looks to me like the Celeron of the Nehalem family, a watered-down version of the i7. If I were to pick between your two configs it'd be option #2. It will do a respectable job. But how much more would an i7 920 and an ASUS P6T Deluxe cost? I ask, because your 2010 project would then be able to build on that (maybe add a Velociraptor or an SSD, a new CPU (the next-gen 32 nm Windmere CPUs are supposed to work in the x58 boards), etc. It looks like you're very close now, and that would be a much better stepping stone to the future than a system that is at the end of the upgrade line. Ok guys so here she is..Q9550 @ 3.4ghz with Noctua NH-U12PP5Q DeluxeOCZ Reaper 1066 5-5-5-15Thermaltake Toughpower 750weVGA GTX 275WD Cabiar Black 640gb 32mb of cacheAnd a Cooler Master HAF 922 case...Well, Performance is what i expected... as a heavy jet flyer, Frames go down on big cities and airports.I have installed UTX USA and Europe, GEX usa, REX and some aircrafts and sceneries i bought yesterday, and @ 1920x1080 with all almost all on high (scenery Dense, AG Very Dense, Water 2x high, traffic 45% with Mytraffic 5.2a) JFK is still a nightmare with 12fps on 13L app with bad weather. But the difference is i got 12 without NONE of those addons, and at 1280x1024 with my old system. With a bit of tweak im sure the experience will be better, because im simply installed and tested, no tweaks or defrags was made.I want put here 3 photos, of performance and 1 of my new baby!Thankyou guys for the advice on this system!!! im happy.. for now :( Spotting a A321 from mytraffic arriving at Mega airport Frankfurt X! 15fps, not bad.. traffic at 45%Going out SEA on good weather, 64.1 fpsThe baby!
