June 17, 200916 yr I have been using Simroutes.com for some time, but am not able to get the flight plans to load in FS9.After creating the flight plan. I save print a copy, then would select FS9 from the drop down menu and choose the button to create the *.pln file for FS9.Then I load up FS and go to the flight planner. I click Load, select the flight plan file, and click Open. ...Nothing happens after this. The flight plan doesn't show up in the flight planner. After this I usually just go back to FS's default route. How do I get the Simroute *.pln files to load into FS9? Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB
June 17, 200916 yr This happens to me all of the time. What I have found, is when you load the flight plan it automatically loads the FS Default. I Learned that if you load the flight plan a second time imediately following the first, you will then get the plan you originally wanted. Im not sure why this is, and would love to find a way to get rid of all of the default flight plans. Anyway this is the workaround i found to work.John
June 17, 200916 yr Author ok let me try that out. real quick :) Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB
June 17, 200916 yr Author ok let me try that out. real quick :)just tried and still getting the default. :/ it might be a bad waypoint in the file perhaps. Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB
June 20, 200916 yr just tried and still getting the default. :/ it might be a bad waypoint in the file perhaps.I usually go to RouteFinder to get the routing, then to SimRoutes to generate and export the FS9 compatible FP. It's just been in the past week or so that some generated FPs from SimRoutes will not load into FS. I noticed that in the case of the routing for this LSZH-LROP flight:DEGES Z2 XEBIX UN871 GAPTO UT23 DIMLO UM859 SOGMO UL606 MAVIR UY570 TEGRI UL605 LAMIT UL5 TUSETSimRoutes was reading some airways as waypoints (see attachment), and this FUBARs the exported flight plan.Even though the AIRAC SimRoutes uses is from 2007, I hadn't had this problem before about a week ago, so I think there might be some other glitch at the site besides outdated AIRAC info. - Jev McKee, AVSIM member since 2006. June 20, 200916 yr I would love to find out where the default flight plans live, and delete them, as I rarely follow them. I mean who flies a 747 3000 or 4000 miles at 18,000 ft. The problem would be, what other aspects of the Sim would be affected by deleting the default flight plans. Here is how it works for me. After selecting Create a flight, Then click on Flight Planner button. Click on Load button, select the Flight Plan that I want, and then find route. At this point the default flight plan always shows up. While in that same screen, I click on Load button again, reselect the Flight Plan I want, and lo and behold there is the flight plan I want to begin with. Works every time that way. At least for me.If I cancel out and go back to the beginning of Flight planner, then I end up with the same results as before, and have to start all over.Hope this helps.John

July 8, 200916 yr yea same exact problem with me. im starting to get extremely frustrated with SimRoutes. i might try your way, John and ill tell u guys if it works.Edit: what do u mean by load the flight u want? if it doesn't load at all, how can u press the "find route" button?
July 9, 200916 yr Author I have to admit that I have not gotten this to work yet... :( But I will keep trying some other plans. I have only been trying the load reload way with no luck so far. :(I'm starting to think it is the plans. I'm going to try a US based flight plan and see if that works, when i reinstall FS9. July 9, 200916 yr Commercial Member When you guys are trying to load a simroutes plan you don't want to click the "Find Route" button because FS9 will discard the waypoints in the .pln and auto generate a completely new set of waypoints and altitude between your departure and arrival airports. Is this maybe the "default flight plans" some of you are referring to? Just click "Load" and select the .pln you downloaded from Simroutes, then click "OK" and answer no to the "Do you want FS to move your aircraft to the departure position..." question and your simroutes .pln should show up in the Navlog and GPS.That said, I have noticed some errors in the simroutes .pln exports that have prevented them from loading, in that case the "OK"buton just stays grayed out. From my own experience this has always been caused by mis-numbering of the waypoints, i.e. waypoint.0, waypoint.1, waypoint.2, etc. Sometimes simroutes will skip a number for some reason, drag the simroutes .pln into Notepad and make sure the numbers start with 0 and increase sequentially without any gaps. I'll also add that I personally don't do long haul flights so I've never generated a simroutes flight plan longer than about 800 NM with a waypoint count of usually 15 or less. Maybe that's the reason, but I've only had 1 or 2 simroutes .plns that wouldn't load.Jim
