June 17, 200916 yr Evening,FSx is up and running for a few days now. When I installed Ultimate terrain USA today, and when I enabled it, I have lost all waterbodies around default Seattle. Now, I have been at their forum, registered but for some reason I don't receive the activation mail.So I turn to this trusted forum for advice.I have been reading post after post about thiis problem. Most of the time the problem occurs together with the installation of the ORBX files for Australia.Of one thing I am very sure. Since I don't have them installed, the problem is by no means caused by those files. And while I am at it...When I use the setup tool of UTX, (I have both Canada and the USA installed), I can only activate one scenerypackage at the time...Is that normal? If I activate the scenery for the USA, I can check that in the scenery library of FSX they are active. The entries for Canada remain inactive. When I go to the setup tool for Canada, it says that the scenery is active which is not the case since the entries in the scenery library are not active.I can't seem to figure out what I am doing wrong...All help appreciated.Luc BrusselmansBelgium

June 17, 200916 yr When UTX installs part of the process is to add the necessary scenery layers into FSX. So having UTX active in the sim and showing in the scenery library is completely different than going into the UTX Setup Tool and activating or deactivating a particular feature that UTX provides. It sounds as if you are having difficulties with the installation process changing the FSX .cfg files that is required to enable all the UTX features. Are you running Win 7 or Vista?
June 17, 200916 yr What I have done in the past is to disable the scenery in the setup tool. Then run the sim until the scenery rebuilds then shut down the sim and re-enable the scenery in the setup tool. It is also important where the scenery is in the scenery library. There is lots of help on priority in the forums. Hope this helps. Mike Keigley
June 18, 200916 yr Author ok guys,I am back from a good nights sleep so I will try those suggestions later today when I come back from work.Something I still don't understand. When I use the setup tool to activate the scenery, I can see the different layers active in the schenery library. When I deactivate the scenery through the setup tool, those layers are inactive when I check the library. So, to my feeble mind it's the setuptool that activates those layers in the library. What I don't understand is why only one package is activated and not both USA AND Canada. When I go into the setuptool for Canada I can activate it. Doing the same in the setuptool for USA is impossible because it says that the scenery is already active. So I am stuck i'm afraid.Luc BrusselmansBelgiumI am running Visat 64bit ultimate (and installing with administartor rights)

First off, these two programs are independent, and do act 'somewhat' independently, so turning on and off features may ony effect one of the programs, not both. The areas where there is common activations is types of roadway surfaces and lighting brightness, as example. Now, It seems you may need to 'reset' your installs to get both at the same level of 'feature activation'. There is instructions on how to do this available on the UT help forums. I have not done this for quite some time, so cannot remember off the top of my head.
June 18, 200916 yr There are two different issues going on with your problem.1. When you install UTX, it should get added to your Scenery Library and automatically be "activated"...the check boxes should be checked for ALL the Scenery Library entries already. Running the UTX Setup Tool has nothing to do with changing those check marks. AFTER UTX is installed, running the Setup Tool will make the individual parts WITHIN UTX that you select in the Setup Tool "active" or "inactive" in FSX...without changing any of the check marks in the Scenery Library. If your Canada entries in the FSX Scenery Library are NOT checked, you may have an installation error of some sort.2. Loss of Water: When you install Orbx, it makes changes to your Terrain.cfg file in FSX. UTX did the same thing. There was a problem for people who installed ORBX after UTX...ORBX made it OWN copy of Terrain.cfg and made FSX use it. So the UTX entries in the Terrain.cfg file were no longer there (or something like that, if I recall correctly). In any case, the "fix" was to re-run ALL your UTX Setup Tools so UTX would add it's entries back to the Terrain.cfg file FSX uses. Try running the "Restore Ultimate Terrain to Initial Settings" under the "Ultimate Terrain" menu item in the Setup Tool. Then you will have to go back and re-activate or de-activate the individual items you want in the Setup Tools categories.FalconAF Rick Ryan
