Buying FSX

Featured Replies

Ok, with Windows 7 on approach for October, it is time to start planning my computer purchase and along with it, finally getting around to upgrading to FSX. Now I understand that FSX has the standard and deluxe versions. I plan on buying the Deluxe version. Now I have a few questions I hope someone can help me out with.1. How do you go about getting FSX up to date with SP1 and 2? 2. Do you have to still install SP1 first or can you just go with SP2?3. Do you have to buy that Acceleration package as well? 4.What exactly is the Acceleration package anyways? What does it give you that the deluxe edition with the SP's don't?Thanks.

You are a tad behind the times Eric. I think most people interested in FSX + Acceleration are getting the Gold Edition which includes both in one neat little package. If you're only interested in the Deluxe edition + SP1 + SP2 then you'll have to install each one in turn one at a time on a fairly pristine RTM installation.FSX Acceleration includes SP1 + SP2, three new birds (F/A-18, EH101 and P51) and a whole lot of scenery.I'm sure you'll be welcome here in the FSX clan real soon!

Just go with the Gold Eric. It's well worth it.

Thanks guys, I did not realize the Acceleration package contained both SP1 and 2. What additional scenery do you get? Found the Gold edition on sale for 36 bucks. Ordering now.

There's more scenery than I can think of without investigation, mostly to do with the new missions contained in Acceleration. My favourite is Edwards Air Force Base, but there are also several Red Bull air race sites around the world among other things.
