Ready made flight plans

Featured Replies

Hello,I am having trouble putting together flight plans that work from start to finish in PMDG 737NG in FS9. Does anyone know of a resource that has flight plans that I can input with the correct approach and departures already in the plan. I have had both the PMDG 737 and 747 for about 2 years now and have just now began to try to learn them. I know I need to learn how to put this info together on my own but the leaning curve of the aircraft is enough for now. Thank You :(David Sanderson

David,That's a tough on! To get it all ... how about almost?By correct approach ... do you mean arrival STAR?SIDs and STARs can be runway dependent.I use FSbuild. All SIDs and STARs can be edited if you find an error or for other reasons .. build your own "custom".FSBuild provides up to date Navdata/procedures ... .seldom misses a cycle so far.It gives the departure SID for your runway. It gives the enroute plan. You can select a STAR.At this point ... just add 15 min for approach fuel. The actual Runway approach is easier to load from the FMC to make the complete plan while at the departure gate. So, with FSBuild you generate the plan (SID, enroute, STAR) and it transports to your aircrafts "flight plan" folder. While at the gate .. FMC setup, load the plan .. add a "best guess ILS Approach. DONE.During the STAR ATC may change your Approach .. no problem... just select it from the FMC.FSBuild takes care of upper level winds if supplied by like .. I use ActiveSky ver 6.5 for FS9 and FSX check first and make sure your Wx pgm supports this.Hope this helped some.

I have been flying the 737 NG for about that same timeframe now and no doubt, I still feel like I'm learning stuff. FS Build is what I use as well. It is really simple to use and get imported into the FMC. I was just going to mention regarding the learning curve, if you haven't already, get you a copy of Metzinger's tutorial for the 737. It really gets you up and going fairly quick but I must say, you get a lot out of it when you take it step by step. Learning curve here is steep but worth it. James Williams

Thank You for the responses. FS build is a program I have heard a lot about. I will have to look for it. Metzinger's tutorial is one I have not heard of< where can I find it?Thanks again!!Dave SandersonSo Cal

Dave from SOCAL: I recommend playing SWA pilot on their KLAS/KLAX flights as a place to start. Actual flights can be found at flightaware (http://flightaware.com/statistics/ifr-route/) and this route in particular is short with just one SID connected to a STAR at a VOR in the high desert (HEC): BOACH2 HEC RIIVR2 usually flown at FL280 in the 737-700. The nice thing about this route is that it is short, the departure is RNAV all the way from the runway (they almost always use 25R for departures) so there is no gap due to vectors, and the arrival can be easily connected to the arrival ILS24L, which is almost always their arrival. You can also get a copy of the terminal procedures from flightaware.Once you can build and fly a route that consists of just SID-VOR-STAR then adding longer routes is just adding more VORs or airways.Hope this helps.
