June 29, 200916 yr Hello everybody, First, excuse me for the poor english, i'll give it my best try. I have a Saitek proflight with three throttle quadrants. Since i have a problem with the calibration i don't want to use the MSFS controller options no more. The alternative is FSUIPC, wich is truly a beautiful piece of software to configure my Saitke for different planes. But...(there is always a but isn't it), The only thing that buggers me is the panview. The panview in FS9 is so much better than FSUIPC that i want to combine FSUIPC for all other buttons and axes with the PANVIEW (hatswitch) control in FS9. As soon as i close FS9 after i deleted all button mappings in FS9, and start FS9 again, FS9 has remapped some buttons, which i deleted before. So is there a way that FS9 is not able to assign buttons automaticly? I was thinking of deleting all assignments except the panview en close FS9. Then put a " read only" on the file where the button configuration is stored. Has somebody experienced the situation described as above? By the way...FS9 ROCKS, compared to FSX. June 30, 200916 yr Hi boby,I am a little confused at to what it is you actually want here, but my assumption is that you want to use your joysticks and FSUIPC to perform certain functions. I am not familiar with Saitek equipment, but for CH joysticks here is what I do and it works well. The first thing is to delete any commands you want transfered to your joystick. I then disable the joystick in MSFS in the settings dialog. I then start flight simulator again and open the modules menue and program your joystick and button functions with fsuipc. You have the option to use the settings in fsuipc to program the functions globally or as an aircraft specific situation whereby fsuipc writes macros within it self to perform your functions. You can view the macros in the fusipc.ini file after fusipc writes them. There are some well written instructions that come with fsuipc in both the normal and the advanced files.I hope this is some helpJohn
June 30, 200916 yr Hi BobyI know exactly what you mean but do not know if it can be done. Maybe someone can help here but I suspect if it were possible then Pete Dowson would have included it in his extensive documentation. Try a search on his site and see if there are any posts re this issue. He has included his settings as I am sure you know.Bill
June 30, 200916 yr Hi Boby,I'm from Belgium so We could continue this topic in our own laguage. For the sake of the friends who don't understand a word Dutch, let's go for English. There is no harm done when you try what you suggest. Put the 'read-only' attribute to the cfg file of your sim and try it out.If things don't work out, just remove the attribute from the cfg file again and you're all set to go again.I have the same problem as you. With different hardware but just the same problem. With me it is the rudderpedal that is duplicated because on my Saitek X52 pro there is the twist-handle while I am usingch-poducts peddals. So far, I have removed the duplicate axis , everytime I use the stick (I also use a yoke when flying GA and heavies).Maybe I should try it out myself tomorrow.Greetings from BelgiumLuc BrusselmansAntwerp
June 30, 200916 yr I'd recommend not using the Saitek software (or CH Control Manager) and going with FSUIPC and direct FS assignments.Remember in FS for each axis there are assignments individually for normal and skew mode.As suggested I removed all unused FS assignments in both modes. If your FS9.cfg does not maintain changed you might have a security issue under Vista. Run FS as an admin to see if the changes stick. Many turn off User Access Security to avoid this. FS9.cfg is normally a hidden file so check and change if necessary its attributes.Remember when changing FS assignments to run the "OK" chain up to the highest level and close FS normally.
July 1, 200916 yr Author Thanks for all replies!!After receiving and reading your replies i started to read my post again and i think it should be more to the point. Excuse me for my bad explanation. My biggest problem is that FS9 automaticly assigns buttons as soon you connect a controller device for example my Logitech Sidewinder 3D Joystick. But now ive got the Saitek Profilght Yoke, rudder and three throttle quadrants. I don't use the software from Saitek. As soon as i plug in the devices, FS9 automaticly assignes buttons. I've got to delete these assignment one by one ( which is a terrible task to do). As soon as im finished and all (!=slew) assingments are deleted, i restart FS9. And gues what...FS9 has re-assigned all buttons automaticly. So probably FS9 "sees" a controller and...how do i say it, automaticly writes buttons assignments for the controller. This must happen within a .ini or .cfg file. When i can make this file " read only" FS9 is not able to automaticly assign buttons. In that case i use FSUIPC for all axes and buttons except(!) for my hat switch (cause the panview with FSUIPC stutters bigtime and as i red on the FSUIPC form there is no sollution). But i want to look around with my hatswitch. The only function i want to assgn through the controller assignment menu in FS9. In that way i combine FSUIPC with the controller function of FS9. That can only be done when FS9 doesn't assigns button automaticly.Another option is the Track IR 4 or 5. In my opinion still pretty expensive so right now im trying to solve it a "less cost money way"...Hopefully im more clear this way. and yes...its time to go back to Australia for a year to get my English back ;)Greetings from a hot summer Holland. July 1, 200916 yr In your FS9.cfg are sections for each device based on the internal windows device code assigned to yopur control devices. Depending on your hardware setup, if you move these devices around to different USB ports FS will see these as new devices. If you get an "installing new device" message from Windows each time you power up then there is a problem here as well.Again, if FS9 can not write the device descriptions to the FS9.cfg file, it will go through these feature assignments each time you start FS. That is another issue. Finally, when setting up the assignments in FS, make sure you OK the assignments and not cancel or close those windows in another manner.I have a joystick, pedals, and throttles. Is the attached device sections of my fs9.cfg, you will see six entrees, three pair for each device. One of each pair is normal and one is for slew. The device code for each follows the joystick title (same for all devices here) but made unique by the device number that comes from the windows device install.
