July 3, 200916 yr So the 920 D0 arrived Wednesday together with the Corsair 6GB DDR3-1600 Ram Kit (3 x 2GB, PC2 12800, 7-7-7-20, TR3X6G1600C7). It took me a whole evening to mount the bl***y CPU cooler (Prolimatech Megahalems) to the CPU. The mobo is ASUS P6T Deluxe V2. So I connected 8 additional fans (2 12cm on the CPU heatsink, 2 12cm on the bottom of the case, 1 5cm on the X58 chipset, 1x5cm on the GPU GTX285 and 2x6cm on the memory sticks). I double checked all connections and i pressed the power-on button, the system started but there was no signal on the monitor... and no beeps from the mobo. I was really-really unhappy but somehow I knew it wasn't going to work. Every time I built a new system, it never works from the beginning. So I thought: I might have damaged the CPU while trying to mount the heatsink. But there would be a beep sequence for that. Then I thought it might be the GPU. So I tried another GPU I knew it was ok but still power-on but no signal. So I thought maybe the memory is incompatible and I removed 1 DIMM and voila! it worked! So the problem is that this Corsair TR3X6G1600C7 can't work as a tripple channel kit on this mobo. I will try to update the bios with the latest and see. I am at work right know. Maybe later this evening. bye for now.New System:ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 X58 chipsetCorsair 6GB DDR3-1600 Ram Kit (3 x 2GB, PC2 12800, 7-7-7-20, TR3X6G1600C7) (currently only 2x2GB dimms are supported :( )Intel Core i7 920 D0 steppingProlimatech Megahalems CPU HeatrsinkASUS GTX285GPU 1GB VRAM3x300GB WD Raptors 3 OS multiboot1x1000GB Samsung for BackupsDVD drives etc..

That’s important. If you did that, either your Memory or Mainboard (RAM-Bank) is defect. This memory-Kit runs in triple channel on this Mainboard for sure!
July 3, 200916 yr Did you used only the red DIMM-slots (you cannot mix the slots if you have only 3 DIMMs)? That
July 3, 200916 yr Yes. Only the red. So is the memory or the mainboard banks defect? Oh ghoss I am fed-up...Yes, I'm afraid that.
July 3, 200916 yr Yes, I'm afraid that.Ok I have to find out exactly which one memory or Mobo because I have purchased every component from a different retailer. I am going to try each dimm seperately and if all dimms work then it has to be the mobo. What do you think?

I managed to boot to the bios with 2x2gb installed and I updated to latest version 0504. Shut down, then installed the 3rd 2gb DIMM (first made sure that there was no dust or foreign object on the dimm banks) and crossed fingers :( , powered up and the familiar short beep and normal post message showing all 6gb made me feel happy :( . Now I have to re-install 3 OS on three 300gb raptors and 100-150gb of FSX+addons data on each OS. So coffee will be my best companion for the next couple of lonely nights. :(thank you all my fellow flightsimmers! Its great to know that someone else on the other side of the globe has the same hobby and interest and is willing to share his experience with others. Thank you and happy flying!
July 4, 200916 yr Be a whole lot quicker if you used casper or ghost. I use casper at home and image my 2 raid0 drives to a single sata drive in an external usb dock. If I ever have a failure of my main array all I have to do is remove the sata drive from its dock and install it into the computer and I am right back to where I was since my last backup. I swear by casper. It has saved me many times. I can't imagine why anyone would want to spend all that time rebuilding and reinstalling when they could simply buy casper software and do their imaging to another drive. Ghost works great as well although you usually have to run a repair after imaging from one drive to another in vista or windows7. Casper does not require that.

I can't backup my old Windows installation which was on a QX9770 CPU, ASUS P5E mobo, DDR2 RAM and restore it on a P6T deluxe V2 mobo, corei7 920 CPU, DDR3 RAM and expect my new system to run at its optimum. :( . Believe me. If there was an easy way I would be the 1st to use it. But I have to do it the hard way :(

Using Windows 7 RC, all I did was take the drives from the old one, together with their 3ware 9690SA controller, plug them into the new kit - and hey presto: Win 7 RC booted, spent a while looking up the new drivers etc, and after a couple of re-boots everything was working again. There are a lot of dependencies in the chipset driver configuration, and I just don't trust that they'll be set up properly if the OS isn't installed from the ground-up with the new chipset.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case

Maybe I misunderstood you.Sorry. I wasn't clear enough. I am installing three different OSs on three different HDDs. So it is impossible to mirror an installation to another HDD. I am going to use Windows 7x64 RC, WinXPx64 and WinXPx86. Believe me, its a very, very painful process. I want each OS to install itself on each HDD and to be assigned the letter C:. This requires that I need to hard-unplug each raptorHDD from the SATA cable after each installation so the next OS setup doesn't find the letter assignment of the previous OS installation. BIOS-disabling each HDD is not enough :( . I learned it the hard way. I started installin OSs on wednesday 30-06 and today I only have a bare minimum boot situation on each HDD. I had to reinstall WinXPx86(32bit) about 5 times. The 1st 3 times the OS wouldn't install in drive <C:>. The 4th time it did but after installing drivers, mobo utils and OS updates, I was struck by a trojan and had to reformat :(.I have cursed many times and my nerves were to their limits. Fortunately I hadn't started installing FSX when the trojan hit.Bye for now.I feel sick :(

But I thought I'd give it a go anyway: after all, it costs nothing to wait until after the hard disks disks are installed in the new PC to see whether they need to be re-formatted. I might just have had a lucky break but so far, it's still working.Rgds,Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor.
