July 18, 200916 yr Upon first boot of a new build (AMD PHII X 2 550 AM3 and Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P MB) I recieved the following BIOS message:Verifying DMI Pool Data.........AMD Data Change.........Update New Data to DMI!The system then hangs at a blinking cursor.I've cleared the CMOS, flashed the BIOS with the original and an update. No change in the BIOS message and system hang. Anyone have thoughts about this before I RMA the processor and motherboard?Jim Harnes
July 18, 200916 yr Remove all but 1 stick of memory and try again...It can't hurt so what you got to lose.

July 18, 200916 yr "AMD data change" to me sounds like a reference to your CPU. If you have another AM2 chip laying around you should use it to boot into Windows and download an updated BIOS for your motherboard.
July 19, 200916 yr Author Looks like this is under control, insofar as that is possible with computers. Decided to give another go before the RMA process: put the MB with one stick of RAM on the cardboard box, inserted a video card/connected the monitor, plugged in the power and shorted the power switch contacts with a screwdriver. Got the BIOS message about AMD data change but the system continued until I got the "no system disk" message. Then added second stick of RAM, etc. until all components were in place. The BIOS would not get to the "no system disk" message with the HD set as first boot device. Changed that to DVD/CD and got to the "no system disk" message.Suspect the BIOS setting for the HD as first boot device was the cause of all this. Haven't experienced that previously, but this is my first Gigabyte MB (Award BIOS).Windows 7 Ultimate 64 RC now resides on the HD, and it was a painless install.Jim Harnes
