REALLY Need Help Guys

Featured Replies

I have recently got wilco E jet on FSX, but I just can't get the weather radar to work, I have followed the instructionon the manual and flying a through storm, but the radar showedme nothing more then a static half circle with green, orange and purple bands that never change. I am using a few environment mods like ultimate night texture, REXAre they to blame?Any feed back will be much appreciated!!!

Come on guys, at least give me a few pointers

Don't have that aircraft, but it sounds to me from what you are describing about the display that it is in 'test mode' which is often when radars like that display all those colours, to show the screen is working. Many radars also have a standby mode too, which if selected, means they won't emit a signal, this is so you can 'warm them up' without nuking the marshallers with radiation when on the ground.I don't know how realistically the one in the Wilco E-Jet works, but a few thing to try (based on real radars, since I don't know what is simulated on your one and don't know those aircraft either, and assuming it is actually meant to do something and is not just 'eye candy' like a lot of FS radars are) would be, change the radar tilt to point the dish downwards (a lot - i.e. 15 degrees), turn off auto-stabilising, change the gain settings, change the range settings, change the PRF setting, switch the doppler/declutter mode off, alter the GPWS settings (some radars overlay this on the Primary flight Display), try altering the settings on the EFIS panel.Sorry I can't be of more help, since I don't have that aeroplane, hopefully somebody will be along who does have it. Incidentally, I use the CS weather radar, and that does pick up storms with REX running, so I presume REX will not be the problem.Al

Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Have you clicked on BOTH sections to activate the Weather ?? It will not work if you only perform one of these actions."As with TCAS, enabling your weather radar isa multi-step process:First, left click on Weather and enable WX,and TURB (Turbulence) should you desire.""Second, click on MAP and click the Weatherbox. Remember to close the Map dropdownby clicking on the White 'X'."

Another step would be to adjust the angle of the radar...If you move your cursor to the box on the MFD that shows the angle of the WX radar (in terms of degrees) you can then use the mouse to adjust the angle of the radar up or down. If you're on the ground, I suggest you adjust it to about +3 degrees... if in the air, then anywhere from -1.5 degrees to -3 degrees. By default, the WX radar is set at 0.0 degrees. You can use the wheel on your mouse, by the way, to adjust this value up or down.Also.. it helps to adjust the gain on the radar to MAX... that will help to pick up the clouds a little better.I'll honestly say that I've owned the E-Jet since it was released and have never had a problem with the WX radar. The E-jet series is, without a doubt, one of my favorite add-ons for both FS9 and FSX!Good luck!- Alex

What you are describing is the radar test pattern. I remember having a similar problem with the weather radar on the Legacy, sometimes it would work fine, other times it would display the test pattern and then get stuck there for the duration of the flight. There is a suggestion in the support forum that you turn on the radar in the 2D view, and wait until the test phase has completed before you switch to VC view. You could try that. The support forum is here: http://forum.iemit.com/Default.aspx?g=topics&f=13
