August 2, 200916 yr hello all, this post refers to my post fs9 md11 flight egpf - kjfk which is on page 3 at present. a reply to that post by Markus Burkhard made it clear i had run out of memory due to memory issues with xp 32bit. it appears that windows 7 will have all the answers to xp32bit memory problems. i was wondering if anyone with the necessary knowhow knows if windows 7 will have the ability to cope with the usual fs addons which were produced solely for windows xp32bit OS. i emailed Flight1 and put this question to them but they had no answer to give me. this post might be useful to other simmers like me who do not have the knowledge or ability to delve into computer software and components. any help would be appreciated, because cost will play a big part. richard welsh Richard Welsh
August 2, 200916 yr You don't need to wait for win 7 or pay the huge price just buy vista x64bit. The only issue I have is with some Blueprint sceneries that the installers won't run on that os. but if you have access to a windows 32bit system still you can just run the installer on there and transfer the files over.
August 2, 200916 yr Commercial Member I've been running Win7 x64 RC for something like 3 months now and it's been perfect... Getting the full RTM version in a couple days here via MSDN/Technet... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
August 2, 200916 yr Commercial Member Running Vista x64 with no issues. Is it true that FSX is faster on Win 7 than Vista? This would be my only reason to change. I'm still on XP 32-bit for 90% of my stuff (FSX is the exception) and I'm more than happy.Best regards,Robin.
August 2, 200916 yr Is it true that FSX is faster on Win 7 than Vista?I'm getting the impression that real world testing is now showing that the difference in application performance between Vista 64 and W7 isn't as vast as people have been made to believe, especially when it comes to FSX. If you are looking to upgrade from XP anyway there is really no other sensible option than to move to Windows 7 and its got to be 64bit as well, 32bit is just a waste of time. Cheers, Andy.
August 2, 200916 yr Commercial Member I don't know about actual game/FS performance, but the OS itself seems much faster than Vista to me, especially in boot times and application launch times. Game performance is pretty much on par with what I saw in XP. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
August 2, 200916 yr people just had to redo their systems thus removing all the spyware bloatware and everything else that was on their past versions. vista x64 is perfect once updated and tweaked
