PMDG 737 CTD

Featured Replies

I'm having a CTD problem. The past two flights I have done, I've gotten the same CTD. The first was out of Burgas airport, and the second out of Budapest.Passing through somewhere around 15000 to 20000 feet, the screen goes black and I have to kill the process to get back to the desktop. Everything up to that worked perfectly. I program the FMC, take-off, turn on the autopilot, accelerate past 10,000 and then it crashes a few minutes later.I've done many other flights fine- the difference was that these two times were the first time I was using the TCAS, so there is a very large probability that that's causing the problem. And the CTD isn't just with the same aircraft versions- the first time it happened with a -700, and the second time with an -800.I'm running Vista 32 bit, and my FPS are always steady at 30 unless I'm near heavy clouds, so I don't think there's a hardware issue.I'm also running radar contact, but I don't think that's causing it because I haven't had any problems with that before, and the only new element in these flights was the TCAS.any ideas?robert smith

Try doing an advanced search on TCAS keyword. I remember reading something a couple of years ago about a problem with a TCAS-related file. Had something to do with versions I think. Wish I could help but the memory isn't what it used to be. Hope you turn something up.

Hi Robert,I am definitely not an expert on CTDs but here is what I would try - assuming the problem is not hardware related (ie enough RAM on your system etc.). Since Burgas and Budapest are in the same general area, try to see if this problem is not related to either an add-on or a local weather setting? Try clear weather, disable any add-on scenery you might have (?) and see if it makes any difference. And try other locations.Otherwise, I would try the same flight without Radar contact, just to see if it makes a difference.Sorry I can't think of anything else at this time. Maybe you'd better send an email (with you system specs) to PMDG support.Bruno

I seem to remember something about the traffic.dll with the 737 - either an fs9 one or a fscuip issue.Probably not much help - but at least another avenue to search for.John Ellison

I looked at that link, and I have the right DLL, so it's not that.I'm going to try to do the flight again with the TCAS off and see if it crashes or not.

I just finished a flight from LHBP to LFPG that went flawlessly, with the TCAS turned off, so I'm almost certain that's what's causing it. I think I'm going to send an email to support.
