Featured Replies

oh, found it in mine too. OK so thats not the problem either.I tried the below and I looked in the BIOS settings after rebooting my computer and clicking f2 to get there, but I dont see the usb part. Can you help me locate that? I am not much of a guru when it comes to that stuff!! "well! after a year of crashes i finally found out the problem. in the bios there is two settings for usb. full speed 12 mbs and hi speed 480 mbs. even with the latest asus bios update the usb always remained at full speed causing the thrustmaster usb controller to crash with the message fatal error visualfx.dll"
I HAVE A BREAKTHROUGH!!! OK, so I deleted ai traffic (everything is default stuff at this point). by deleting the traffic03025.bgl from the scenery folder, and no crashes in 3 trys. Now the big question is why would ai cause a crash? I have hundreds of flightplans waiting to be installed from World of AI but I wonder if that will cause the same problem?

Hello,Ar you sure of the speelingtraffic03025.bgl Don't find this file in my FS2004 neither in a Google search.Regards.bye.gifGus.

I might try that, renaming it. I will ask this question in a new topic and see if anyone may know why traffic may cause fs9 to crash. Thanks for all your help :(

You got a new video card and it didn't help...bummer...but still cool. I have 2 extra video cards sitting around the house. Hope that it didn't set you back too much cash. Oh, many people don't like the ATI cards but I do, I love my Radeon 4870 X2. The color palette is so nice.Well, I responded to your other thread and hopefully others will too. Don't buy anything else yet please...at least not yet.Mark

Didnt cost too much...I think. About $70. Had to put it on another credit card to hide the cost from the wife :( Maybe I'll put my other one on eBay to recoop some of the cost.

>> P.S. the reason I think it may be more than the game is because my computer will randomly reboot by itself and locks up on other apps<<This type of error usaually turns out to be an overheating problem of the computer.Good chance its the power supply - whats the cooling like? A new and bigger graphics card may even make the situation worse!

if you also got a warning relevant ``symmap.dll``and you have GPS problem and MAP with flightplan modetry to uncheck ``Addon Scenery`` in the ``scenery menu`` at the fs9thenreopen fs9, retry to flygood luck

I keep getting the same error everytime, without fail, 5-20 minutes into any flight, anywhere in the world. This started happening about 3 weeks ago. The error report ususally says "modname: unknown" and always shows the following files:C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\fs9.CFG.txtC:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\dxdiag.xmlC:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\scenery.cfgI've reinstalled fs9 countless times, completely wiped my computer clean, re-installed my video card disk. The error appears with or without any addon ai or scenery. I have nothing else to go on. Does anyone else have this issue, and could it be a mother board or video card problem? Is there a way to test this? This is my computer specsOS: WIndows XP pro (5.1 build 2600)Manufacturer: Gateway 831GMBios: Default system BiosProcessor: Intel P4 3.00GHZ (2 cpus)memory: 2542mb rampage file: 664mb used, 2536mb availableDirectX version: Directx 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)Any help would be so greatly apprieciated...I AM LOST!!!! :(P.S. the reason I think it may be more than the game is because my computer will randomly reboot by itself and locks up on other apps.
HiIs this a new computer or have you added any extra RAM recently? The reason I ask is that I had an identical problem with a new computer about 2 years ago which I initially thought was related to some of the many addons which I had installed on to fs9. Like you I uninstalled fs9, cleaned everything up and re-installed it a couple of times but to no effect. I then contacted the helpline for the computer manufacturer and they advised me to remove one of the RAM modules which they had installed (my computer was shipped with 2x2GB of RAM) to see if that resolved the problem and, if it did, to replace the RAM in a different RAM 'slot' on the motherboard. Removing it resolved the problem completely and I subsequently replaced the RAM in a different module and the problem has not recurred. Worth a try if your computer is new or you have installed any extra RAM recently!BillWindows XP Pro SP2; Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0Ghz CPU; Arctic Cool 7Pro; ASUS P5N-E-SLI Motherboard; 4GB Corsair 800Mhz DDR2 RAM; 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800GTX Dual VGA Graphics card; 2x 500GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive; 650W (2 x 12V) PSU; 1000GB Western Digital External Hard Drive; 150GB Western Digital External Hard Drive
