Level-D 767 and PMDG 737 FMC

Featured Replies

On my flight, i looked at youtube tutorials about setting up Level-D and PMDG's FMC. It all was setup, but when i took off, i didn't get it. I pressed on VNAV and the plane didn't go on the course to my destination like I was told. The LNAV didn't do anything either. So am I doing something wrong, or am i not getting the point of what the FMC does?

LNAV mode controls the plane in the lateral (flies the programmed route)VNAV mode controls the plane in the vertical (programmed climb/descent profile)neither will work properly unless the FMS in programmed properly. It's usually pointless to start posting step by step advice how to fly a complex addon plane if the user does not understand the basics - no offense intended, that's just the way it is! :( The best you can do is follow the tutorial flight provided in the manuals of both planes to the letter.

So if the FMC is set correctly, the LNAV would put me on course as if it is the GPS navigation on the Default 737-800?

That's about right... LNAV will follow the route from waypoint to waypoint, if you've properly sorted the FMC programming... and with that, you can activate VNAV too, and the thing will climb and descend just right, too. A wonder to behold :)

Sound like to me that you didnt activate the 1st waypoint in the FMC. I usually dont do that untill ATC has cleared me to resume own navigation.

If you have entered a SID then it should follow that as soon as LNAV is available. In the 767, LNAV and VNAV can be armed before take-off, providing the flight director is on. That way once the flight mode annunciator shows LNAV, the flight director will follow LNAV and VNAV which you can hand fly (Also once active) until you select Otto (Autopilot).Martin Buzzell
