August 16, 200916 yr http://www.evolvedsoftwarestudios.com/inde...=2&Itemid=2This is exactly what I've been looking for. It makes a 3D track of your flight for Google Earth that you can save in a folder. You can even go to "flight sim mode" in Google Map and examine your route from below if you want to. Google Earth is already one of my handiest companion programs for flight simming, and this makes it much better.
August 16, 200916 yr Hi,Thanks for the link. I have also been looking for something like this.John L.
August 17, 200916 yr Hi,Alternatively you can try this free software at: http://www.utr-online.com/blackbox. It does the same graphical representation but it may have useful additional details.Cheers Best Regards, Michael A. R. Clavier
August 17, 200916 yr Hello:Do any of the Apps work in FS9 ?Gerry ReidYes blackbox works with FS2004 too.Cheers Best Regards, Michael A. R. Clavier
August 17, 200916 yr Yes blackbox works with FS2004 too.CheersYou can also use FSEARTH. While it is payware I wouldn't fly without it. It loads your flight plan into Google Earth but then also links up in real time to show your progress like a moving map and it also displays FS traffic in Google Earth. You can even zoom in and out and adjust your viewpoint in Google Earth from within FS... Personally I use it on a 2nd networked machine and I have never had an issue.http://fsearth.fsutil.com/Cheers,-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
August 17, 200916 yr Author Thanks. I am the world's biggest Google Earth fan and now have three different products to try when last week I had none. With a mapper and FS Pax, I am pretty much good to go unless I decide I want ATC & can't stand default in which case there is Radar Contact.

With a mapper and FS Pax, I am pretty much good to go unless I decide I want ATC & can't stand default in which case there is Radar Contact.Don't forget PFE for offline ATC as well...great program available today with regional voices, ground instructions, programmable SID/STAR, user definable arrival gates, another one I wouldnt fly without.... August 17, 200916 yr PFE?Oh yes... PFE :) ProFlight Emulator by Oncourse Software (Dave March) http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/ibosh...i?showd,,D10535and expanded voice sets...http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/ibosh...72016160,D10754I am not an online flyer and tried RC but for me, this is hands down the best FS ATC program going... Not to mention, it is updated frequently rather than once every few years and it is an easy download.Just my .02 and nothing against RC just expanding on the pros of PFE...I would never fly without it...One of my favorite features is being able to request a specific gate upon arrival. I hate landing at KEWR in a COA 777 and being asked to taxi to terminal A so now I can ask pre-configure PFE to direct me to whatever gate I want on arrival. Not to mention the verbal/visual taxi assistance. My Co-Pilot is always keeping me from getting lost at unfamiliar airfields...Not to mention so many more features... (From Aerosoft) * PFE provides an all new runways database using data from FS2004 or FSX * Supports multiple flight planners (including FS2004 and FSX when using the PFE flight plan converter) * Active AI detection (both air and ground traffic) during takeoff and approach * Transition levels can change dependant on your geographic location * Configurable Transition Altitudes for each of the 26 ProFlight geographic regions * Use ProFlight's initial departure vectoring or choose to fly published departures (SID/DP) * Considerable attention has been given to approach vectoring to provide smooth, realistic approaches to most airports. * SID (DP) and STAR support * Departure procedures (SIDs/DPs) are configurable and can be named which is then read out by ATC * Let ProFlight handle all approach vectoring or choose to fly a published approach (STAR) at anytime. * Step climbs and step descents * Ability to request higher and lower altitudes visual approach different arrival runway * Active runways (departure and arrival) determined either by AI (if in use) or wind direction * ATC handles missed approaches and vectors you back into the pattern * Supports controlled, uncontrolled or partially controlled airports/fields * Emergencies supported with vectors back to your departure airport or the nearest airport (your choice) Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
August 17, 200916 yr Author Thanks, I'll take a look a that, too. I like Radar Contact, and it, too, does a lot of the things you mention. Regional accents and taxi help would be nice, though; still, I will be forever grateful for RC4 weaning me away from the Progressive Taxi line. I understand RC4 relies on volunteers for their voices, and they do a good job, but I am always wondering what the woman with the southern accent is doing in Russia. RC4 is superb, but sounds like PFE is also very good.Anyway, the payware Google thing looks worth 16 bucks, although the other two work, too. I had been using FSK, but found that FS Pax, whose cult I have now joined, was duplicating many of the functions that count for me (including mapping, for that matter, but I really like Google Earth and seeing things on a globe with points of interest). Obviously FSK is a good product too, and does a lot more than what I've mentioned, but sometimes I want less, not more.

August 18, 200916 yr Author Using the first gadget I mentioned (which is very simple, just what I wanted) I was able to track my flight. I saved it to a Google folder, dropped in a couple of pictures to further memorialize the flight, and copied the airports from my list of places I fly to get the labeled push pins. If I want to, I can run a tour, in which I travel the whole route at whatever speed I want, admiring the real scenery and stopping to look at any points of interest. Or, I can just use Google Earth as normal to review my route and sites of interest along the way. This is 3D, of course. Everything is checkable, so if I just want my flights to show (e.g. no pictures), I can do that, or I can zero in on one particular flight with as much detail as I care to create. This was really simple to do, and quick, and everything used, right down to the graphics program, was free. FSX is accurate down to the taxiways and runways, so you can see every moment of your flight accurately and check out your patterns, for example.I also cut and pasted my FS Passengers report into Properties, so when I click on the top level file for that flight, the report pops up in the middle of the screen for review.Given the sharable aspects of Google, I foresee flightsim blogs where we Googlize our pastime for the edification of our peers. We could even have an AVSIM live Google Map so we could see who is flying where in what at any given time of the day or night. Who needs to eat, sleep, or work?
