GEX, REX, FEX, XGraphics and UTX

Featured Replies

I came to the point, when I do have too much add-on sceneries/meshes and so on. As I am under fresh OS and FSX, I would like to set things once and forget about textures replacing...I would like to know, how do You have set Your textures in concurent programs (GEX, REX, FEX, XGraphics and UTX).As GEX and UTX are mainly for ground textures, and I do not have problems with it (all features enabled), I am in doubt about REX, FEX and XGraphics. How do You guys set the textures? Which program replaces clouds, skies, airport textures, water textures? Which set looks most real or frame-rate friendly? My PC is rather powerfull, so I will choose the 4096x4096 resolution for clouds.Any suggestions will be very helpful.

I would leave FEX alone. REX does the same thing as it but does it much better. The same for XGraphics. REX is all you need for sky, weather, runway textures, and water unless you decide to use Active Sky for weather generation only.

If you can afford it, buy FEX, REX, XGraphics and ASA. Buying a one size fits all product can be limiting should you not like what you see. I use:ASA - weather generationFEX - cloudsREX - waterXG - Airport textures.I run 4096 with no problems but to be honest, I can't tell the difference between 2048 & 4096 in REX and FEX.Now, as far as clouds, water & airport textures go - that is purely sujbective - what pleases my eye may look awful to you. I was a RW pilot for many years and I find that the above combo gives me the most realism with the least trouble and the least framerate hit.Currently, the new kid on the block is getting the most push - REX - and deservedly so but even though the development on FEX has slowed dramatically, they still have an excellent product. As always - your money - your choice. :) Good luck!Vic

Thanks Vic, thanks Twitchstick.I remember, before format I had awful water textures. Most probably because of FEX or UTX. Will check Your suggestions this weekend.
