  1. Good question. I have the GTX 580 3GB and I have not checked to see how much VRAM its using when I sim. I will have to check this and get back to you on it.
  2. I think the GTX is a very sound investment. Especially if you play other games besides just simming with FS. I don't think we are going to get much more performance out of a 680 for FSX. Maybe a 1-2 FPS but who knows. I already put it for my step-up but I'm like #730 in queue. If I can get one before hand I will.
  3. Its funny I'm finding this thread. I was thinking to myself the other day how I jumped head first into airliners and never really gave GA aircraft a real shot. I'm so used to the autopilot doing a lot of the work that I never really took the time to master some of the basics. Needless to say I plan on going back to the basics to sharpen alot of my skills now.
  4. Its all about luck if your going to get a great 2700k chip. There is no guarantee. I've had this 2600k for 2 days and I have it stable at 4.6 with room to go up I believe. I'm surprised because with my luck I would have gotten a crap chip that was a volt hog!
  5. I spent almost $300 on this sale. I guess you can say I really went in!
  6. maybe your right. That means I got to take another 40 mile trip tomorrow to make the swap :Straight Face:
  7. Just got back from my trip to Microcenter (which I must say is always fun since its a PC geek heaven). I decided not to go with Ivy Bridge. I picked up: i7 2600k Asus Z68 Gen 3 Motherboard Samsung 8GB DDR3 (great overclocking RAM) Corsair H100 EVGA GTX 580 3GB Crucial M4 128GB SSD (OS + few programs) All of this is going into my current Cooler Master 690 II Advanced. I'm also using my current Power supply. I will be putting FSX on my 300GB Velociraptors in Raid 0! Now its time to get to work. Its going to be a long night!
  8. I'll be leaving shorty to Microcenter to pick up either SB or IB. Still can't decide. Choices, choices
  9. I plan on upgrading my PC in the next few weeks. Ivy looks nice but since I mostly gaming, SB will suffice. I'm debating if I should go with the 2600k or the 2700k. I would like to purchase the GTX 680 but is sold out almost everywhere. Same question as Allard, what cooling soluiton are you using Stephen?
  10. Going back to fullscreen since I picked up a nice laptop off of cragislist for $250!! Now I can go back to running AS2012, EFB, etc on the laptop.
  11. Well I figured out the problem. I had to install the simconnect.msi again after doing the updates.
  12. I have spent the past few hours going over things to make sure I just didn't miss a step. The first thing is my laptop. I installed AS2012 onto it. When I start the program i get and error "Simconnect Client SP2 not found. How do I go about fixing this error. I have all simconnect files installed on my actual FSX PC and configured. As well as I have the simconnect.cfg file on the laptop configured also. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  13. I would suggest the PMDG NGX if you already have a few good payware airports to do some great flights with. If your into GA, I would suggest the Carenado C90 or RealAir Duke and ORBX PNW scenery since its on sale. You could probably thrown 1 or 2 airports in the PNW airports for cheap
  14. Oh I know. I can replace it no problem. I was just saying :Just Kidding:
  15. Most recommended. The voice version is a blast once you get used to it. Too bad my mic broke and I have to dumb down to the button version :Loser:
  16. The sale lasts all thru April. You can purchase all of their scenery from flightsimstore.com
  17. This is good news. I own both the PMDG and the iFLY. Like Mike said, If PMDG won't support P3D then I guess we still have iFLY as an option.
  18. I'm surprised nobody mentioned (if someone did then sorry) PW Sceneries. Completely freeware and covers many airports of the carribean
  19. The PA 380 package for FSX dosen't come with a VC? I thought it did
  20. I still think FSX is, and will be the leader for quite some time. Pprepar3d is good and it is gaining support, but it has a long way to go before it can hold a candle to FSX. P3D seems to be more stable, but I just purchased the academic version yesterday so I'm no expert on that platform. But like I said, if your looking to extend the life and immersion of your sim, then FSX is still the way to go. There are a plethora of add-ons for it and it just keeps growing.
  21. How about KDEN. I believe that is about halfway between ORD & LAX
  22. Well I jumped on the P3D bandwagon :Nail Biting:On a serious note I'm quite excited. Its going to take almost 2 hours to get the necessary files downloaded but I'm sure I won't be disappointed. I look forward to getting add-ons moved over. I've been away from FSX for about 4 months and I'm ready to get back into it.
