April 22, 201214 yr Out of the following choices what do you all recommend for FSX Payware Add-ons??? I have a $100 gift card and am looking at any combo of the following: PMDG 737NGX ORBX PNW Aerosoft KatanaX RealAir Duke Carendo C90 I already have UTX USA/Canada/Europe and GEX/USA Europe and the F1 Citation Mustang and LvL-D 767 with a couple payware airports... What would be the best value for my $$$ Thanks! Chris Camp
April 22, 201214 yr If you like complexity and want something which will keep you learning a lot of stuff, the PMDG NG, if you prefer simpler aircraft but one which is equally engaging, the Aerosoft Katana. They are at different ends of the spectrum as far as aircraft go, but both are really class-leading products. PNW would be of limited use unless you chose one of the slower GA aircraft to go with it, since you are talking about pretty small runways for the most part. April 22, 201214 yr I think many people here will say the NGX for its outstanding quality, i dont own it but i do want to own it but i need to do some upgrades on me pc first ( i have cable ties holding me H100 rad in place ). -Paul-
April 22, 201214 yr PMDG NGX (best modern airliner for FSX period) and ORBX PNW (which is on sale for 44% through the end of April) http://www.flightsimstore.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=92 Shane Gavin
April 22, 201214 yr I would suggest the PMDG NGX if you already have a few good payware airports to do some great flights with. If your into GA, I would suggest the Carenado C90 or RealAir Duke and ORBX PNW scenery since its on sale. You could probably thrown 1 or 2 airports in the PNW airports for cheap Christopher Edwards
April 22, 201214 yr The RealAir Duke, Piston and Turbine are absolutely incredible,You can't go wrong with either. 100%75%50%d8a34be0e82d98b5a45ff4336cd0dddc Patrick
April 22, 201214 yr the da DO-27 is good too...but yeah I agree with the NGX and anything from ORBX. Also be sure to get FS2Crew for the NGX, and LDS 767 lee
April 22, 201214 yr I'd say it all depends what you wanna get. What you counted are totally different ends of the thread. With NGX you won't see much of PNW if you get it... so if you think GA, low and slow, a Katana or Duke + PNW makes for an incredible combination. NGX on the other hand is a beautiful airliner, but you will find yourself inside of procedures, if you are into that. I love it. Bought it the first day it came out and is by far my favorite airliner.
April 22, 201214 yr Tough choice as those are all superb addons. Very best value I'd say would be NGX + Katana 4x for your price range. Otherwise I'd go Turbine Duke + NGX if you could stretch the cash... | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 23, 201214 yr Tongass Fjords X of course....... just as good and a lot cheaper ! Francois A. 'Navman' Dumas EuropeRides ... and the man's Blog
April 23, 201214 yr GET WILCO AIRBUS SERIES... !!!! just kidding.. Seriously, you can't be wrong with PMDG
April 23, 201214 yr Get the NGX with the ORBX scenery, if you want bang for your buck get multi crew experience as well and you have one program to give you voice control of just about every aircraft in your hangar, including the NGX, LevelD, Carenado, AES, GSX, etc Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
April 23, 201214 yr Hi, I often fly airliners (NGX, CS 757, EJet's, F1 ATR etc) around European destinations, but this is interspersed with ultra generous helpings of VFR flying with bush type a/c (Carenado Bush C185, RealAir Scout package, Lionheart Quest Kodiak) around ORBX (PNW, PFJ, & NRM, plus TFX). I love both types of flying, but I think ultimately that my heart is with GA. So, I have a great mix of a/c, airport scenery, and great extra's like Accu-Feel (this makes a huge difference!) , GSX, G-Plan etc. Also essential is Rex (or similar), and a reliable and accurate weather feed. Right now, I simply cannot get out of the Baytower Studio's Vans RV-7 cockpit; it's exceptional, and a worthy equivalent to anything by RealAir (my other favourite remains the still perfect RA SF260). The RV-7 can go fast, it can perform aerobatics, and it can go low and slow, and the systems modelling is very immersive, and it's flight dynamics and sounds are sublime. Brilliant stuff! :) Some turboprop twins have been mentioned; these will let you fly fast, far, and high, but with decent ORBX scenery, IMHO, you need something that will let you get "into" the scenery, and be part of it; I hear only great things about the A2A Cub, with Accu-Sim. The visibility from twins isn't always that great, so they're not necessarily ideal VFR a/c, and you're twice as likely to suffer an engine failure. Besides, your airliners take you fast, far, and high. Hope this gives you some food for thought. Good luck!
