August 20, 200916 yr Installed Fly Tampa's St. Maarten with St. Bart & Saba, and got Aerosoft's Twin Otter. Man oh man have I been having a blast with this scenery. I can get the twotter down in less than half the runway at Saba, which is pretty much like an aircraft carrier without arrestor wires. Will I get fired for reversing props mid-air?How have I missed this combo for so long?
August 20, 200916 yr Moderator Yeah thats a great scenery package. IMHO its probably my favorite package ever released for both FS9 and FSX. It's a lot of fun for short flights between St. Maarten and St. Barts in small GA and for a short airline flights from San Juan to St. Maarten. Glad you finally found it. August 20, 200916 yr I have to agree,FlyTampa makes some great stuff[just not alot of it as of late] If you're interested in another scenery close by for some more island hopping,VFR Extreeme makes a nice one for St. Kitts check it out herehttp://secure.simmarket.com/vfr-extreeme-saint-kitts-x.phtml
August 20, 200916 yr Yup, Aerosoft's Twin Otter is a great little add-on. You should check out Aerosoft's African Airstrip Adventures (an AVSIM review of African Airstrip Adventures - by yours truly - is already submitted, and should show up fairly soon).By default African Airstrip Adventures uses the FSX King Air and the Caravan, but if you have one or two Aerosoft aircraft, such as that Twin Otter, it implements them into the game and then you get to fly the Twotter onto some really tough and challenging airstrips with all kinds of hazards to avoid, which is really good fun, not to mention being the kind of place the Twotter was made for.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
August 20, 200916 yr How have I missed this combo for so long?LOL. You were busy answering questions over at the Unofficial CS Forum and trying to conquer the infamous CS757, that's why you missed it! :( Glad you like the combo!Best regards,Jim Young
August 20, 200916 yr Author You'll have to take my word that I'm stopped, because I have the brake message edited out. I didn't take pictures of several spectacular plunges off the end. Flying back and forth between Saba and St. Maarten just isn't getting old. I'll have to check out St. Kitts and African Adventures, too.
August 21, 200916 yr Reversal of props in midair is entirely realistic for Twin Otter ops. But familiarity with the aircraft will lead to relying on it less.Don't forget TFFJ... may be a longer runway, but the hill on short final keeps it interesting!Robert
