RealAir Duke - Reality XP 530 integration

Featured Replies

Hi, I am interested in anyone using the XP 530 gauge in the RealAir Duke? There was mention from the RealAir docs that there can be considerable shimmering of the gauges in the VC, but most of this can be reduced or eliminated by editing the camera.cfg file. Has anyone modified the cfg, and if so, were the results positive? Can you provide info on how to accomplish the cfg mod?Any other information about this integration that you can provide would be very helpful.RegardsBob

If you have the GNS 530 and the Duke service pack, then you can select the option in the Duke config program and it automatically puts it into the VC for you. However, the Reality XP GNS 530 doesn't work properly with the nav gauges in the Duke. Not sure about the camera.cfg mod.

To clarify, it does work with the Nav gauge (HSI/NAV1) in 'nav mode'. Folks have had mixed results getting the HSI to become active during WAAS approaches, which, with the RXP 530, has to be flown by hand anyway, only using the WAAS HSI/VOR1 horizontal needle for guidance only. This is not really a big problem. I have flown many ILS approaches (in NAV mode) with the Duke/RXP 530 without issue.See the RXP forum for further info.

I couldn't even get the HSI working. Not sure if it's an OS issue - I use Vista 64, I noticed on the Reality XP forum that there were one or two others who couldn't get the GNS530 to communicate with the gauges / get the needle deflection on GNS power up using Vista 64. I can't test this now though - I only bought the GNS530 for use with the Duke, luckily Flight1 offer the refund policy on the GNS530 which I took advantage of in this case. Here is the main thread on the Reality XP forum.http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=30723

Yes, well you are probably having a 64 bit issue, not a RXP/Real Air issue, which is why it is best to clarify your post/statement.I am still using 32 bit, as others have had issues with the RXP units under 64bit. I like the RXP units too much to change at this time, or ever. Again, there are other posts regarding the 64 bit issue, and if I'm not mistaken, some have gotten to work....I think...but again, I won't try it moving to a 64 bit OS until the issue it settled.

Ok, nice to have some info fellas. I will check out the rxp forums. In the meantime, any comment on the shimmering issue and the mention of a possible mod of the camera.cfg to correct this issue, as stated by RealAir?RegardsBob

I'll be honest, I do not notice this issue, and have made no .cfg changes. Perhaps it is because the way I have my video driver set-up (using nHancer).
