FLY5 joystick reliability?
My Fly 5 has lasted a few years but I have had to take it apart to spray the pots with cleaning fluid and the spring it too firm for my liking, i had to compress it with tie wraps. The plastic part under the spring isnt completely smooth any more, so smooth inputs are quite difficult. I'm looking at buying something else.

Brakes not working after landing
I had the strange brake issue on my last two flights. Just uninstalled the latest PMDG download (658,446KB zip) and re-installed my original download from the weekend (658,013KB zip) Done a short circuit and all seems to be well again. Perhaps a slight issue with the 'updated' download? Paul

Brakes not working after landing
I'm having the same problem. It was fine when I initially installed it. I cleaned my system out - fresh install of Windows 7, re-downloaded the 737NGX from PMDG website (after reading the package had been updated to change write permissions etc - I noticed the file sizes were different) Since installing this 'slightly updated' version, whenever I land using autobrakes, my brakes lock on even after I turn autobrakes off. The only way to get the plane moving again is to set parking brake on and off, but even then the brake button on my joystick stops working until I reset the whole flight, Paul

How did this make it out of testing?
Working fine on my q9650 with 4 gig and nvidia 560tiFps dip to 20-25 on ground at airports. 30 to 40 in air. More importantly, it all remains smooth.

Thank you PMDG
Thanks PMDG for the finest add-on I've ever experienced. I was so in awe, that I decided to do a clean re-install of my system, the only add-on I've re-installed is the 737NGX. It has made my many other add-ons redundant! I'm actually going to put the time and effort in to learn this aircraft properly.

PMDG 737NG Base Pack....what?
I think the pricing structure is very reasonable for something that looks so advanced and way ahead of anything else that is out there. Why don't you try going onto the Ariane website (yes, I know, it doesn't even come close to being regarded as PMDG NGX competition) and building a bundle up, I put the -700ER, 800 and 900ER into a basket and the price came to a whopping £209.85 ($344 according to google today)

Milviz T-38A out!
Just been up for my first flight, what a brilliant plane - first impressions are that it is more of a challenge (for me) to fly than the Lotus L39 - I nearly crashed the T-38A on my first approach, it really doesn't like low speeds, and requires quite a lot of power with the flaps and gear down to maintain airspeed. Lots of trim adjustments required at speed, will take a lot of concentration and practice to learn to fly well! Very smooth gauges and kind on the FPS (probably similar to the L39). Who really cares about a tiny mistake on an insignificant gps background colour (which is already fixed) for an instrument that isn't even on the real plane. I can think of far worse problems with other addons I have bought that haven't been fixed in years. Give it a rest.It is sad that a thread about a great addon is being overshadowed by something so pathetic.Support and encourage the Devs, we need more aircraft this enjoyable to fly for FSX.

The Empire Strikes Back
They have also released their "GSP" global service pack for all the X2 aircraft within the last week or so. You can find it on their forum. However it causes a crash to desktop when exiting FSX, I've also had CTD when programming the FMC, and it hangs FSX for me when you click end flight. They are supposedly looking to fix it, however who knows how long it will take (their Nav data manager was within days of release, last year). What annoys me about them is that on their forum, they make it sound like we should be grateful that they have released this service pack for free! Some parts of it do feel improved, eg the way the autopilot flies the plane.VNAV is supposed to be fixed, however on the one flight I did with the service pack installed, it missed my target altitude, I was at 9000 feet when I was supposed to be at 3000 feet on the descent.Still not impressed at all with my Ariane purchase back in 2009.I feel it has been rushed in an effort to compete with the iFLY and with the upcoming 737 which we are all waiting for.Uninstalled it completely and am eagerly awaiting for the other 737.

Anyone here refuse to fly online? If so, why?
I tried VATSIM with both SB4 and FSINNI don't get on with either of the two clients, just don't like them.If there was a more upto date, more integrated client that didn't kill my AA, i'd probably use VATSIM, as it stands, I don't.

Going Military
VRS Superbug is definitely the best modern military jet for FSX, I still haven't come close to mastering it.Sometimes i prefer going back to basics:Lotus L-39 is simply brilliant.however my current favourite is the A2A Spitfire with accusimI bought planes from IRIS in their sales - I haven't flown them much, they don't come close to the 3 listed above in my opinion.

A2A Spitfire w/Accusim just released!
Thanks for the info...Looks like my plans for the evening have changed!

Captain Sim sale is now ON!
Shame the 707 isnt in the 9.99 sale. At 9.99 I'd have picked it up for the sake of putting it in my hangar for the odd bit of fun, like I did with some of the IRIS aircraft, at 24.99 I don't have enough interest in it to fly it often enough. Maybe next year if my FS Labs concorde has started to wear off.

$5 Sale at Iris
I bought the A10 and the T-6 Texan IIAlmost feel like I've robbed them at only 10 Australian Dollars in total, a very good deal, will keep an eye out on their future products.

My Ariane Story
Ariane discussion away from their official support forum (which I think they claim isnt actually their official support forum? but you cant access it without having purchased a product of theirs), always seems to lead to arguments and bad feeling.I feel I wasted a lot of money on their -800X2, uninstalled and deleted it a long time ago and put my loss down to a life lesson. When PMDG bring their Beoing endorsed 737NGX out, this may well be a happier place and Ariane will be a distant bad memory.

flythemaddog service pack
There is a new service pack out for the 2008 model (and a "new" 2010 release) at flythemaddog.comAfter installing the service pack, I noticed an increase in frames, so opened the .mdl file and noticed the header MDLXMDLH.I take it this means they have finally built an FSX native model?

NEW FSX. 4 Boeing 737-800 X2 Aircraft
Does VNAV work correctly on the -700 or is it like the -800 where it doesn't respect constraints and just takes you up and down

Eaglesoft Citation x v2.0 FSX
I'm another one who passed on it due to the VC and FSUIPC requirement. I'd prefer they didn't bother with the seats and tv's etc in the passenger cabin, and spent the effort on the VC where I'd spend the entire flight. And no, I'm not "obsessed" with VC's, I just know the difference a good one can make to my enjoyment of the sim. I don't have FSUIPC installed on my system, I don't want to have to pay for other add ons just to have my purchase work correctly - Flight1 managed to get FADEC working correctly with their excellent Mustang, without FSUIPC. I'm not slating it in any way, having bought an Eaglesoft aircraft in the past, I'm sure it is a good aircraft underneath with its systems etc, they are just my reasons, as a potential average customer, that I chose to avoid it.

Engine start
after engine start, are you going into reverse to remove stop locks? and then moving condition leaver to flight just before takeoff?Paul
