August 22, 200916 yr Hey guys,I've been tuning FSX for a while already.. and I followed Nick's guide.I have it tuned very good (to my liking), Only thing i still have are some microstutters.. when on the left and right views in VC or normal 2D panel. If I look on the normal front view i don't get any microstutters.Anyone can help me? or is there a value that i can tweak to minimize this?I currently use the FPS governor, and X4 955 3.5Ghz CPU + ATI 4870 1GB.
August 22, 200916 yr My guess would be the ati card. Ati cards stutter very badly when any weather or clouds are around. Try changing the weather to clear with no clouds and see if the hitching goes away. If it does then get an nvidia card. I replaced crossfire 4850's with a single nvidia gtx285 and the difference was stunning. Ati cards DO NOT play well with fsx due to their shader based design.

Anything i can do to fix this?
August 23, 200916 yr jonx, can i ask what drivers are you using for the 285? I have a 285 and i have had problems ever since i got the new system built.ALot of graphic anomolies such as tearing, weird graphics etc in fsx using the 285 card. I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram

When I use BP on my GTX 260 I see what you are saying. Remove BP and all is well with the world. Jim Wenham
August 23, 200916 yr No issues here. I've used 185.85 and the new 190.38's with no issues. Performance and IQ is way up compared to my 4850's. When you get anomalies like that it is almost always heat related. Factory overclocked cards can do it if your case has poor ventilation. Is fsx the only game where you see this kind of behavior?Relived: did you change the weather to clear to test it? Before you can say it's an ati problem you need to do that. If the sim runs much smoother when the weather is clear compared to cloudy then you know what your problem is and you'll just have to deal with it because there is no fix for ati cards and fsx weather.
August 23, 200916 yr Try setting the FSX Limiter to 30 along with setting 30 fps in FSX. This really smooth things out on my system. Using unlimited in FSX gave stutters.
August 23, 200916 yr jonx,FSX is the only game ive got installed, ive removed bufferpools from the fsx cfg, its a little better but i still get these anomolies from time to time. I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram

Using unlimited in FSX gave stutters.Okay i will try this..The other fellow that asked about clear weather. FPS in clear weather versus normal weathers is 3fps ~!Maybe becuase i have REX clouds.. anyways i didnt try to see if it runs smooth. I will try that later

Using unlimited in FSX gave stutters.Sounds like you dont have the limiter set up properly. For it to work as it should FPS in game MUST be set to unlimited. Jim Wenham

Try using different size '3D CLOUD RESOLUTIONS' on the 'OPTIONS' tab. Also instead of using that Limiter, set your FSX slider to say 30, and set your video card V-SYNC to On.Keep us updated.
