Rant against MegasceneryX

Featured Replies

Hello all, Has anyone bought a product from MegasceneryX? Specifically, does anyone have the Dallas/Fort Worth package from them? I'm trying to buy their product but I wanted to first post some questions in their forum. About 2 weeks ago, I tried to sign up for a forum account but it was never activated. So, I went ahead and signed up using another email address and it still did not go through. I then emailed the board admin and I still have had no luck in getting my account registered. I then contacted the company's tech support asking how I can sign up for the forum....and I have yet to hear back from them. ALL I WANT TO DO IS ASK SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PRODUCT BEFORE I BUY IT. I'm also readin in their forum that there are many disatisfied customers with the company's communication methods. Does anyone here have the Dallas package from them? I need to ferry a Piper J3 Cub from a small town outside of Dallas to San ANtonio and I wanted to plan my routes and become familiar with some of the landmarks along the way. That's why I wanted to buy that package.Thanks.

I have it and the Las Vegas, SoCal, and Phoenix titles as well. It great and I wouldn't get rid of it. The only downside is that even if you turn autogen to the max autogen setting, it doesn't display as much autogen as the default or GEX ground textures do. Either way I like it a lot. I wouldn't recommend the MegaSceneryEarth stuff as much because some of it has clouds on the ground and isn't color matched as well as the regular MegaScenery stuff is. I think I bought my copy at Fry's on 635 and Belt Line or the Fry's in Plano.I actually posted some screens of it here:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=258173BTW, it's great if you like to fly following landmarks and roads/freeways.RegardsEdit: The coverage doesn't go all the way down to San Antonio. If I recall right it stops near DeSoto or Lancaster, but it goes all the way east to Rockwall, west to Ft. Worth, north to Denton. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks so much for your answer!Okay, you mentioned Rockwall...so it seems that the scenery may not reach far enough for my target location. Does it contain the town of Canton, Texas? It's near Rockwall/Terrell. I'll be flying from there and then hitting I35 down to San Antonio. Wondering how far south I can go before the scenery stops? Corsicana? Let me know if you can, thanks again.

I live in Ft Worth, Tx.It does not include Canton. It's Eastern boundary is a North/South line drawn just east of Rockwall down through Terrell to Kaufman and then West and as far south as Waxahachie and over to Alvarado. The Southwest corner is just to the southwest of Benbrook, then it's Western boundary is up North just to the west of Lake Worthand just about to West as Weatherford. On the North it ends just north of Denton. It's good scenery, but I didn't like to because the photo was taken in the dead of winter on an exceptionally dry year. It's looks more like a desert than it really is. It was just too brown and dry for me.

Thanks for your response. I guess it may not be adequate for my needs.

It isnt bad. I have 6 or 7 tiles for Washington state. My recent problem is that I am flying planes which are considerably faster the the 65hp cub, and I find myself getting to my destination much quicker now, because I have forced all of my destinations to be within the 7 tiles I purchased. It is a shame because I love the stuff, but if I want to take a long flight, I need more tiles. In another year you may be able to buy them all for $100. Just not willing to pay $120 for 1 state. To bad. I think if they lowered the price they may do well. so back to UTX-GEX.Bob

Their megascenery titles are all top notch. Their MSearth titles on the other hand can be hit or miss. The chicago area tiles are nasty, flat and washed out but the denver tiles are excellent. The big island in hawaii is my favorite MS title though. It is by far their best work to date imo.
