Yeah, the product page for the 800/900 upgrade states: This product requires PMDG 737 The Next Generation to be purchased and installed That does mean the 737NG (600/700) needs to be installed.

If you get the PMDG download for the 800/900 you need to first install the 600/700 since the PMDG 800/900 depends on some 600/700 version components. (The 800/900 also updates and completes some inoperative features on the 600/700.)If you get the Aerosoft packaged 800/900 CD the 800/900 can stand alone.Whichever path you take, be sure to install in order (for PMDG the 600/700, service packs, 800/900, service packs). For the Aerosoft CD (you also can get the 600/700 on CD if you don't care for downloads and the install order for both CDs would be the same) install the 800/900 and then its service packs. To get service packs for Aerosoft distributions go to Aerosoft.com and register your CD product using their FAQ button on the lower left. Once you have registered the product with the CD key you'll have access to the FAQ/Knowledge Base which will have instructions with links to the Aerosoft packaged service packs.

Yes, this boxed CD version will stand-alone. The CD install key is in the package (Don't lose it.).As I stated, register this for tech support with your CD key on Aerosoft.com, lower left under Support/Service then under FAQ's/Updates to get the service packs. Once done go to your model (drop down) and open the problem about no panels on 600/700 (although that is not your case). You'll see "4)Optional model update(737-800/900)". You MIGHT try that if you experience problems. I had it installed since I had both CD versions but they were installed a few years ago. I don't know if Aerosoft updates their CDs for this with the latest patches. If it works leave it alone.You also might like to know I have had no problem with the livery auto installers downloaded from precisionmanuals.com:http://precisionmanuals.com/priv/pages/down/liveries.htmlAerosoft Aircraft Products support is here:http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showforum=106 but generally use this PMDG forum at AVSIM for non-CD install questions.
