September 5, 200916 yr I can't figure out how to do a battery-only start in the JS41. As soon as I turn off the GPU the fuel pressure (as indicated above the engine instruments) drops to zero. The standby pumps are switched on and the "LO PRESS" lights remain extinguished. Left and right voltmeters indicate 24.4V.Anybody else tried this - and how did you do it? September 5, 200916 yr Commercial Member Uhmm... I have to admit I didn't observe the pressures directly.Be aware the instruments might require AC power, which you don't have at that point.I've done battery starts without any problems.* Batteries ON* Observe voltage* Configure for start and observe EGT in limits* Pumps ON* Select ignition* StartWorks for me.Best regards,Robin.
September 5, 200916 yr Might help to understand the fuel system, which is described in the AOM.The normal fuel flow is created with a high pressure engine driven pump that doesn't work until engine is running. The low pressure pumps are required for start, and are only on for start. There is an interaction between cross flow and the LP pumps as well that is explained in the manual. Dan Downs KCRP
