Kai Tak AC/Runway alignment

Featured Replies

When selecting the Active runway at Kai Tak at sim start up, the AC is slightly off angle to the runway center line. I suspected this might have had something to do with the AFCAD, but after changing the degree heading in runway properties, the AC (any AC) is still off center to the centerline. Is there another setting that needs to be changed? BTW, the AFCAD is the "Randomized" one from 9Dragons as is the complete 9Dragons scenery.Thx

I cannot speak specifically about 9D, however there is a heading setting in AFCAD2 for start locations.Lists>Start locations>select start locationIt would seem to be an easy adjustment.Hope this helps,Joe

Agreed - should be an easy adjustment.Open the afcad with a utility such as the AFCAD program - Select View and then Start Locations. The attached screenshot shows one end of the runway with the start location.Left click on the circle and it should change to a Yellow circle. The cursor in the screenshot is sitting on the "handle" of that circle. Hold down the Left mouse button and "drag" that handle as needed so it lines up exactly with the runway center line.Save your "changes" and your aircraft should be line up correctly when you next start at that location.Do not change the runway heading, just the "angle" of the start location(s).Hope that helps.

Thanks Dave. I wish all problems had this simple a solution. Fixed.

Happy to here it worked out well for you.Just a little follow up - Many simmers prefer to have their aircraft positioned at the hold short line of the taxiway which connects to the actual runway - when they select "active runway" or a specific runway number - rather than actually sitting on the runway itself. That is easily accomplished using an afcad editor by moving the start location circle and aligning it so the aircraft is facing the desired direction. You use the same technique I described in my previous illustrated post - just drag the circle where you wish and move the handle accordingly.I rather like my start locations that way. You might want to experiment with that concept. :(
