October 13, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Loyd, thanks for the explanation. How did your experimentation go with the "5" rings? Its a tricky balancing act isnt it? My goal is clear 1.2 scenery as far as I can discern it ( one or rings?) , 20fps , 150kts and scenery loading to cope. I seem to have gone a couple of steps backwards in my tinkering, I started to lose frame rates, down to 10 - 15 after adjusting FFTF value and affinity mask value. Despite my changing the values back, I was stuck with the lower frame rates, which was wierd. So , I re made my FSX .cfg file from scratch and just used TBM 40, LOD radius 4.5 ( no affinity mask, no FFTF, no increased value of TBM) I also was using the the level mapping values suggested by JohnCi, with the "5" rings as we discussed earlier in the thread.Voila, I was back up to my locked frame rate value of 20, and suprisingly, I found that performance was very similar to what I was experiencing before after all my tweaking. There were 2 significant differences though. Firstly, loading times were much longer - it takes about 10 minutes to load ovals 2 & 3, then the others fill very quickly. Before, I was getting loading in about 2 -3 minutes, no more. Texture loading was pretty good, but not quite as good as I had it before using the FFTF tweak. But not bad. After about 5 minutes of flying, you needed a quick stop to catch up.The other thing I noticed was that it was possible after switching views several times in sucession, to lose the high res textures all around for about a minute. These snapped back in after a little while. So, a little perplexing. I cant understand how TileProxy behaves so variably. And I am now focusing my attention on the effect of the affinity mask tweak and the FFTF tweak in conjunction with each other.Do you have any input as to how these variables affect what you see in TileProxy?Cheers, Mark
