FS task switches itself to desktop.

Featured Replies

When I'm playing FS, it will randomly task switch itself to desktop, or whatever other application is running. If I kill EVERY process except FS and every windows essential process, it will still do this.I've used a registry hack to prevent focus stealing, as well as a few other programs to 'prevent window stealing, focus stealing, etc', and it's still doing it.It will happen randomly, usually every hours apart. FS will still be running, I just have to task switch back to it, but it's starting to really ###### me off.Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas what's going on with this or how to fix it? If often happens when I'm not even touching my keyboard, or am using my laptop, so I'm not accidentally bumping my Alt Tab buttons.

Same boat here on occassion. I use End-It-All, but for whatever reason, McAfee, will sometimes shoot me to the desktop. Don't havea clue as to why...sorry.. :( Irish3

Had the same problem with z-alarm it seemed to cause FS9 to minimize when it was updating or doing what firewalls do,anyway i turned of Z-Alarm and that was the end of FS9 disappearing. As described in the original post this was not a CTD fs9 simply needed to be clicked on in the taskbar(THE BIT AT THE BOTTOM i think its called that)to maximize it again.Very annoying though.cheers Andy

I, also have had this happen to me and found out that AVG was trying to update itself. I just changed from auto update to manual and that fixed it..........John

McAfee not only does it but my DSL software updates and does this. I don't mind McAfee since it mostly updates when I turn the computer on but the DSL software has no button to disengage and updates at any time.Carl Perry

Hey Carl, why would you want your DSL software to update anyway? Is it necessary for your system...I'm curious. Anyway, there are 2 registry keys you can have a look at where the DSL software updater might be loading. They are...HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunYou can also have a look at your start menu's startup folder too :)Mark

They just sent me a new modem to replace my old one. Although my DSL is running at the same speed it appears to be downloading files and web pages faster. The downside is they have put some daily update on my system. Thanks for the input as I see if it can be done when I want it done like my Mcafee.Carl Perry
