Upgrade to 737 800/900?

Featured Replies

Hello All,I was just wondering what the general concensus was about wheather the upgrade to the 737 800/900 was worth getting. I have an older machine that runs FS9 very well but I won't even try FSX on it and with my second child on the way to upgrade hardware is out of the question. :( So I was wondering if that would be the way to go or is another PMDG for FS9 product recommended? I am looking for the most bang for my buck if you know what I mean :( Thank YouDave SandersonKSNA

It will probably blow your mind.

If you don't have the 744 and MD-11 I'd go for one of those - the 737 was our first FS product and it's quite honestly showing its age compared to the other two. The level of simulation in the FMS and autopilot is of a higher fidelity on the 744 and MD-11, we had years of MSFS experience behind those.

The 737-800/900 upgrades avionics features of the 600/700 as well. The 600/700 did not when I acquired it nor as far as I know now provide a TCAS on the ND which I find indispensable for situational awareness. I think there are also some FMC features added and a few bug fixes. Your performance should not suffer.I got both suites simultaneously using the CD packages, just my preferences.Be sure to read the installation instructions carefully regarding service packs and install order if you get it. I do not recall if you have to uninstall the 600/700 and then reinstall when a later upgrade is performed. If you are happy with the capacity and range of the 737NG aircraft and it meets all of your flight needs, then I'd get the upgrade.

Thank You for your responses. I have the 747 already so maybe I'll go with the MD-11.

Sorry for changing topics, but I read on the very early threads that you guys developed a 757. That would mean that the 737 wasn't your first FS plane? Where is it? :(
