How to install a UN-docked HSI gauge

Featured Replies

I've been trying for 4 hours with NO luck.... UNCLE !! Would someone PLEASE take a look at my panel.cfg and tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to install a HSI (Horozonal Situation Indicator) gauge that will UNDOCK so that I can drag it over onto my Old Style DH-2 Beaver VERTUIAL cockpit. I know how and I have installed a Garmin -500 GPS and a Cessna 182 "Radio stack" that will UNDOCK. All of the HSI gauges that I can find are part of a "Mini Panel" and I don't know how to cut out just the HSI gauge and get it to where it will UNDOCK.Please take a look at my inclosures below and see if you can help me. Thanks jerrycwo4P.S. The "system" will not let me UPLOAD the panel.cfg I'll have to figgure out another way to show it. When I right click on teh HSI and select UNDOCK, all of the area within the yellow border becomes BLACK and the gauge is NOT undocked.

Jerry, the place that is most likely to provide an answer is the MSFS Aircraft and Panel Design Forum...Since it's a panel question... :( ...ask it there and I'll answer it there... :(

The reason that I put it here first is that more people read this forum. A post about 5 above this one received a great answer on how to make a "digital fuel readout gauge". I was hoping for the same. The main info I'm looking for is to where to find a Horizonal Situation Indicator (HSI) gauge that can be UNLOCKED . Anyone know where I can find one? Thanks jerrycwo4

Hi JerryIn your panel.cfg you have to do something like this:ATT: The window number is just for example, you have to see the next one available in your panel.cfg:[Window Titles]Window00=737-700 -- Main PanelWindow01=GPSWindow02=RADIOWindow03=HSI <----------- ADD THIS LINE//----------------------------------------AFTER [WINDOW02] (In your case it's the next number available) ADD:[Window03]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=300,300window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=HSIwindow_size= 0.253, 0.254window_pos= 0.720, 0.595gauge00=capr733!hsi_efis, 0,0,253,254 <------ work with the last 2 numbers (253,254) until you get the gauge with your favorite sizeYou can change the gauge to one you want by replacing capr733!hsi_efis I'll get this when I press SHIFT + 3 (I can select it with mouse and drag it to the position I want:HSI_undocked.jpgIf you need further help send me a PMFly High & Take CareSparky

Great job Sparky!Jerry, I worked this version up as it uses the Mooney HSI same as the Aerosoft Modern cockpit.Add these additions to the panel.cfgI have highlighted what to add, if your [Window Titles] is different then add the last line and change the number in both locations to the next consecutive number.[Window Titles]Window00=Modern Style Panel FullWindow01=Modern Style Panel LoweredWindow02=Zoomed RPM & ManifoldWindow03=Trim DisplayWindow04=GPSWindow05=HSI//---------------------------[Window05]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=186,176window_size_ratio=1.000 position=2visible=0ident=5gauge00=Mooney_Bravo!HSI,0,0,186,176With this modification Shift+6 will bring up the HSI in the upper right hand corner. Then you can right click on it and undock. Then you can resize the window as you can any window. Note: Shift + 6 works with [Window05], if you change this, Shift+6 will change accordingly.Hope this helps,Joe

I was the one who answered that post, but even so I asked for any followup questions to be directed to the appropriate forum. Yes, more people do read this forum, but the one's who frequent the Aircraft and Panel Forum are most like to read and reply. In any case, I see you've received already two answers that're identical to what I would have written... :(
