September 26, 200916 yr The default aircraft files are pretty small compared to some of the latest addons. I delete all but one paint for each aircraft and then rename the panel folder so that the aircraft doesn't show up in the selection menu. Other than that I leave them alone.
September 26, 200916 yr I always delete some of the default aircraft that I don't use. For example I delete all the older style aircraft.
September 26, 200916 yr No problems at all. Ive always deleted the default planes - however in FSXs case some of them are pretty nice. So Ive kept the Goose for example :)But yes the best suggestion (also mentioned here) is to rename the folder. You can have tons of folders that way. If you have tons of planes then you can have:airplanes.heaviesairplanes.militaryairplanes.bizzjetsairplanes.cargoairplanes <-----folder in use....etc.
September 28, 200916 yr Perfect example of why you should NOT remove defaults:http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showtopic=29378Multiply that by 100-fold and figure the frustration when some addon calls something that has been unnecessarily removed. As you cannot know when any addon - no matter how sophisticated - will call for a gauge, sound or alias from the defaults, LEAVE THEM ALONE.

In FS9, the parameter was in the air file. I can't find it in FSX. September 29, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member The idea being not to remove them at all but rather to change the extension of the aircraft config file from .cfg to something like .sleepJust do not do it with the your default aircraft - the one which loads as FSX starts. Konrad
