October 1, 200916 yr I downloaded the Flight1 cessna at lunch and I'm impressed. Gonna take some getting used to, but I think it's definitely on the right track. Only did 1 pattern and final approach was nice and smooth. Touchdown...still need to work on finding the best view, but at least the plane now behaves better.
October 1, 200916 yr Sorry! Your posting implied to me you had a problem with the views which I was attempting to help you resolve.I'm well aware that orientation in real world flying is a lot more easy in many respects.JohnHi John- guess we are all trying to help out the original poster- sorry to imply I had a problem. I think we were all trying to assist Bill72pa.Here is a pic to illustrate my comments re views. Without the left/fwd view, the pilot will have no visual clue as to when to initiate the final turn.Alex ReidOn Base leg & starting turn to Final for R09 CYYJ- Runway is in left view- top centre/right. October 1, 200916 yr I do appreciate all the replies. And Alex, no doubt 3 monitors would help with the situational awareness, but right now I decided to go with just a 25" monitor and trackIR. I want to wait unti the Eyefinity graphics card comes out, and/or see what other widescreen options become available over the next year (curved screen, projector, 3d glasses, ect...).
October 3, 200916 yr You could also use one of FSXs neat features - make the 2D panel transparent as you approach the flare :)Another trick is to spawn a new window and set it to show the view to the forward-left (10 o'clock position). Keep this small window visibile on the top left. This will show a view of the wing, wing strut and a better view of the runway as you come in to flare and help with the flare attitude.
October 4, 200916 yr Do a search on Glen Copeland in the avsim file library. There is a little utility called seat adjust (I think}. It is a little gauge you put on the panel to adjust the seat up and down. I think you will like it. Paul
