I checked and I have several trafficxxxxx.blg files in my scenery folder. This just started this a few days ago. Let me ask this. I fly on Vatsim. I use RC when there is no ATC where I am going. Could being connected to the network cause RC no to see the AI's and me not seeing them either?
October 1, 200916 yr What, if anything, got changed in the last few days.First check this. With your download of FSUIPC a utility called TrafficLook.exe was included. Create or load a flight at a busy airport parked somewhere.Fire up Traffic Look and set it (under File) for both ground and air AI. It will have its own window and switch to it and back to FS using alt-tab. (In addition check in the FS main settings tab that FS is allowed to continue when minimized.)I also forgot to mention to insure you have AI chatter, not prerecorded chatter, turned on in the RC general settings tab. I also suggest setting RC to autotune your comms for now.Start RC and load a plan into it from that same airport. Get your weather and CD so you can get to your pushback menu choice or if the menu allows contact ground directly without pushback first. This insures you are tuned to ground. Now listen and see if you hear any AI talking with RC ATC. Alt-tab to the Traffic Look screen and see if any AI are busy on operations that would be talking to ground. This insures that AI are functioning. If you see AI moving in Traffic Look but do not hear anything when FS is up, then you might also check your Windows sound mixer settings. RC works directly to your Windows sound mixer, not the one in FS. Make sure the wav mixer is up and not muted. A way to test your RC sound is to go into the RC General tab, make sure a callsign/airline is selected, and click the Speaker icon. You should hear it through the speaker.Regarding the VATSIM interface, if it is loaded and feeds sound via the Windows wav input, perhaps that might lock out RC's audio access. That callsign speaker audition in RC could check that. I am not familiar with the VATSIM interface software. It also might prevent AI from occuring in general. If you can't see AI then perhaps that module is preventing it from functioning. Traffic Look should help with that. I never used any on-line ATC so some else needs to assist here.

October 10, 200916 yr Thanks RonzieI did 2 flights last night without VATsim and had my AI traffic So its something with being connected to the network thats preventing RC from seeing the AI trafficUm.. perhaps the most obvious point here has been missed. If you are connected to Vatsim or any other multiplayer system, all AI traffic is automatically omitted in FS. That is why you're not seeing any.I recommend you disconnect from the network if you intend to use RC or some other ATC add-on. I believe you are supposed to monitor the unicom frequency if there is no ATC available. Yeah, I know it's boring but that's the code of conduct.

October 10, 200916 yr thanks for pointing out the obvious. why would you connect to vatsim if there was no coverage? That, my friend, is a very valid question and needs to be asked from the hundreds of virtual pilots that do fly online without ATC coverage every week :( I stopped doing that long time ago, and only connect when there is an event going on, or otherwise guaranteed ATC coverage for the better part of the route. That being said though, the reasons for flying online with no ATC could be various. Maybe the virtual pilot's VA rules require all flights to be flown online. Many just wish that ATC would eventually show up. Some may feel flying online is more "professional" or "hardcore" than offline flying, even if you're only announcing your intentions to empty skies on vatsim unicom. In some occasions a part of the trip is flown without ATC, but perhaps there is ATC available for the arrival, so you would not bother disconnecting. The list goes on..In theory it would be nice to be able to use RC or other means of simulated ATC while there is no coverage, but in practise it's not that easy. Like said, you'd need to disconnect to have AI traffic show up around you. Another thing is I don't know if RC can be started and paused "midflight", but I doubt it. Also, when you're disconnected, the potential ATC does not know you're there and might not bother to come online. If they did, you would have to pause the flight to negotiate a "midflight" connection with the ATC whose airspace you're about to enter. Nah..

Nah..you mean pause rc, and continue flying? no, that's not possible. but you can pause the sim. you can also save a .rcd and pick up your flight on another day. JD Read my blog
October 11, 200916 yr you mean pause rc, and continue flying? no, that's not possible. but you can pause the sim. you can also save a .rcd and pick up your flight on another day.Yes, I thought so.Even though the ideal situation would be to have online atc when available, and offline to fill the gaps, my explanation of the combined use of RC and Vatsim was really just meant to demonstrate that it is currently very impractical to use both in turn, and I'm not expecting anyone to do so. Better stick to one or the other for a complete flight.
