October 4, 200916 yr Hello there,I have played FSX on a rubbish computer, only with default aircraft, bad scenery, and acheive 15FPS :( Today i went on the sim and said"wow i suck at flying!" And i was flying the beech baron 58 default aircraft. I read alot of book about aviation and hope one day ill be a pilot.. ANYWAY, i know a lot of people love flight simulator and no doubt for sure it must be a hobby, but to me, my little reckless computer is eating up my passion! Im planning to buy an i7 920, GTX 285 build.. Is it worth it? Will i enjoy it? How do you learn to fly in the sim properly?Sorry if this sounds "newbish" But i really want to enjoy the most out of flight simulatorany suggestions are appreciatedCheersAlexander Michael Alexander Michael

It might not be a bad idea to spend some time in the Learning Center in FSX. I think it's a great place to start learning to fly in the sim because it includes informative articles with lessons at the end. Rod Machado will talk you through the lessons, and when your done you can try your luck at earning a certificate, that is assuming Martha King is in a good mood that day. Even as an experienced RW and sim pilot I still visit the Learning Center from time to time as a sort of proficiency tester. Jeremy "rightseater" Fletcher
October 4, 200916 yr Author What aircraft add-ons do you recommend? I was thinking about a carenado cessna 152 and the A2A cub... Thanks for the encouragement. Oh yeah one more question, do i "suck" at flying because of the default aircraft? I have never tried any add-ons. In fact i have made a wish list...:CARENADO 152 II REX 2.0 FTX AU GOLD HERVEY BAY airportTAMWORTH airport A2A simulations, piper J3-cub+ expansion pack And what is the average to master light airplanes? The default aircraft are fine to get started in-when you get an idea what it about there are many add ons which are fantastic depending on the area of simming you are attracted to.The average to master light airplanes-never-each time can be better and each time can be a learning experience.Consider though that a typical ppl in rw takes about 60-70 hours. You might want to look on multiplayer to see if you can hook up with a "virtual" instructor. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 4, 200916 yr Moderator My best advice?Don't bother with any addon aircraft until you've purchased at least a yoke......and if possible, a set of pedals. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
October 4, 200916 yr Also, it's good to learn at least the basics about navigation. There are a lot of websites out there but I really enjoyed this one found HERE I like this site because it's short, to the point and easy to understand. You can also take a look HERE for an extensive read on flying concepts, procedures and etc.Regards,
October 4, 200916 yr Author I have the saitek Pro flight yoke system. I'll probably buy the rudder pedals as well... @pilotextwo,Thank you very much for the info! And thanks for all the support guys.. Its just crazy being away from the sim... But then it totally makes sense due to my "current problem".. Alexander Michael
