October 6, 200916 yr I'm currently running FS2004 on Windows XP Home 32 bit. It's time I upgrade to a 64 bit OS. Here is what I have in mind: I want to replace my hard drive with a new one. Then, I plan to install the new OS and FS2004 on the new hard drive. So I have a few questions.1) Should I get Windows 7 64 bit or stay with XP and upgrade to 64 bit XP?2) If I don't like the results of the upgrade, can I simply remove the new HD and re-install my old HD and be up and running?
October 6, 200916 yr Windows 7 64bit will have much more support than XP 64. I would recommend 7.Yeah you can swap your hard drive to revert back as long as you don't change your motherboard or any major hardware component.

October 18, 200916 yr I use Windows XP Pro x64 (sp2) and see no reason to change at this point in time.
October 19, 200916 yr I have spent so much time tweaking and testing, upgrading drivers and messing with settings etc that I am staying firmly with XP 64.Does FSX for me run smoothly and playable? Yes so no need to waste time starting from the bottom again.
