FSUIPC Settings
Hi everyone! I was having some serious control problems in cruise with the FS9 747-400. The plane could not hold altitude nor airspeed even at max throttle, and the autopilot was going haywire. By haywire, I mean the MCP speed was rapidly changing itself, various lights on the MCP were flashing, and basically the autopilot was useless. The pitch attitude was very high, which initially led me to believe the load/balance settings has somehow been corrupted in flight. However, the CDU indicated a CG % well within range every time. Researching the forums, I began to suspect the well known FS weather issues were the source. FSUIPC, according to most, would fix the problem, so I paid the $ to register FSUIPC. The issues appear to have stopped which confirms my suspicion that weather was the culprit. So far so good. :Praying:Now, I would like to optimize the FSUIPC settings, but I have been completely unable to find anything definitive in this or any other forum. Could somebody give me a list or screenshots of "optimal" FSUIPC settings for PMDG 747-400, FS2004, using Active Sky 6.5? Muchas GraciasFidel Lopez

AAL 738 & COA 737/8/9 Winglets
Here's a shot of my new AA 737-800 with winglets (AAL 2099 KORD-KLAX level at FL340 200nm sw of ORD). Great looking plane I found on flightsim.com! Thanks for the help!

AAL 738 & COA 737/8/9 Winglets
Does anyone know where I can find the American Airlines 737-800 and Continental Airlines 737-7/8/900's with winglets? None of these versions on the PMDG website have winglets.Fidel Lopez

Finally, the real thing!
How did you like those 17 inch wide seats!? I enjoy being the captain of PMDG Southwest 737-700 from the comfort of my office chair more than riding in the passenger cabin of the real thing. Also FYI, Southwest has a number of-300's with winglets. Not sure about the -500, however.

Again:XP64 or Win7 64bit?
With the 3GB sw, are you talking about the boot.ini switch? If so, you don't need that line in a 64 bit OS. However, you MUST set the Large address aware flag for fs9.exe in CFF explorer. After the upgrade (well, really it was a clean install) to Win 7 pro x64, I used CFF explorer to make FS9 large address aware. Since then, I have not had a single OOM. It completely 100% solved the problem. Hope this helps

Again:XP64 or Win7 64bit?
I went from XP Home 32 bit to Win 7 Pro 64bit. I am very pleased with Win7. Very few issues have arisen, and none of the issues relate to FS2004.OOM's were a crippling problem in xp 32 bit. With Win 7 64bit, I have not had a single OOM. In fact, (knock on wood) FS2004 hasn't even so much as crashed or locked up now that I think about it.FS2004PMDGLevel-DUT FSGlobalHigh density add-on airports (FLytampa, mega-airports, etc.)

Why so few FS9 purchases lately?
Rafael hit the nail on the head. No offense intended here, but one axiom is that pc enthusiasts doggedly pursue and purchase the newest, baddest, and fastest available. Just read the millions of posts from people who just couldn't resist upgrading to Win7 for no other reason than the fact that it's the newest OS from MS.

Win 7 Tweaks
I have asked Nick_N when he plans to release a tweak guide. His response is to wait until Win7 releases the first service pack update. Then he will begiin working on tweaks for Win7

Dual Boot on Seperate Physical Hard Drives?
I am not very knowledgeable with respect to dual boots and partitioning of drives, but I can tell you this: you will get the MOST performance out of FSX and your Vraptor if you run FSX exclusively on the Vrap drive. Nick N has posted extensively on this topic and explains that for the best FSX performance from your drive, you should run FSX on its own drive (and a Vrap is the faster than any of the 7200 rpm drives.)

I've had the same problem with Win7 Pro 64 bit and FS9. I will try this suggestion and let you guys know.

XP to W7 - Worth The Upgrade?
I just upgraded from XP 32 bit to Win7 Pro 64 bit. OOM's were killing me so I need a 64 bit OS to better manage memory. I don't have everything in FS2004 set up yet, (re-installing everything is a major undertaking) but I like what I see in Win7 so far.FWIW, at this time I can't imagine why anyone would want to upgrade to Win 7 from WinXP 64bit. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Anyone using this soundcard with Win7 64?
Iain, I am using that soundcard with Win7 Pro 64bit. I did a clean install of Windows 7, and it automatically downloaded the drivers for the Audigy SE. It works, although there are some minor issues with sound. I did a little research and found that Creative hasn't released any Win7-specific drivers.

Please check my reasoning
This is almost exactly what I have done. Here is what I did:1) Copy/backup the entire contents of the C: drive onto an external/portable drive.2) I physically removed the C: drive and replaced it with a brand new one3) Installed Win7 Pro x64 and all programs (for FS9, it sucks to do this. Actually it's brutal and I'm still not finished. LOTS of add-ons to install.)4) Copy files from portable drive (old C:) onto new drive5) Test FS2004 Win76) Reinstall old C: drive(FYI, I haven't made it past #4 yet because the FS9 reinstall is such a massive effort.)Supposedly Win7 has the capability to copy all of your old files automatically. I don't trust Microsoft to do this for me. Rather just do it myself. The change from XP to Win7 is a big one, IMHO. Very different way of organizing/presenting things. I seem to be spending the majority of my time so far trying to figure out where things are and how to customize things to my liking.Hope this helps. I'm sure lots of folks who are smart have thoughts, too.

Clean Install
Pierre, could you explain more specifically the process of modifying the registry? when you say "flight path" what do you mean?Would the same procedure work for fs2004? Does this mean that I would not have to reinstall EVERY add on that I have?Lots of questions, I know.

XP 64bit or 7 64 bit?
I'm currently running FS2004 on Windows XP Home 32 bit. It's time I upgrade to a 64 bit OS. Here is what I have in mind: I want to replace my hard drive with a new one. Then, I plan to install the new OS and FS2004 on the new hard drive. So I have a few questions.1) Should I get Windows 7 64 bit or stay with XP and upgrade to 64 bit XP?2) If I don't like the results of the upgrade, can I simply remove the new HD and re-install my old HD and be up and running?

Yet another 'new system' advice request
Joe, let me be blunt: That configuration will run FS9 like a freakin' champ! No question about it.I STRONGLY recommend that you get a 64 bit OS. Very STRONGLY recommend.

Anybody run FS9 on something like this?
FPS should be okay. However, you will likely have problems with Out of Memory (OOM) errors. I had crippling OOM problems with the combination of Ultimate Terrain, PMDG, AS6.5, FSGlobal Mesh, and high quality add-on airports. I took the following steps:1) Upgrade to 4GB RAM , and2) Use Nick N's performance tweaksThis has pretty much remedied the problem. I rarely get random OOM errors (the OOM errors I do get are predictable; i.e. they happen at the same place.)One piece of advice I have been given is that 4GB RAM and a 64 bit OS should completely solve the OOM issues. Haven't done it yet, so nothing to report on that.Hope this is useful info.I'm using FS9, Windows XP Home 32bit, E6850 @ 3.6ghz, 8800GT 512MB @ 1900x1200, 4GB DDR2 at 800mhz

Yet another 'new system' advice request
Joe, if the extra $500 isn't a big hit to your bank account, go for the 975. Otherwise, get the 950. Either way, I would recommend keeping an open mind to overclocking.FYI, until a few months ago, I didn't even know what overclocking was. Seriously. Long story short, I learned how to overclock by getting advice from folks on the forums and a little independent research. It wasn't an unreasonable time investment. I am very happy with the results.Bottom line: don't dismiss overclocking as an option. For a moderate overclock, it is really not a massive effort. Video card:I have heard that the 260 is a great value.
