FSUIPC Settings

Featured Replies

Hi everyone! I was having some serious control problems in cruise with the FS9 747-400. The plane could not hold altitude nor airspeed even at max throttle, and the autopilot was going haywire. By haywire, I mean the MCP speed was rapidly changing itself, various lights on the MCP were flashing, and basically the autopilot was useless. The pitch attitude was very high, which initially led me to believe the load/balance settings has somehow been corrupted in flight. However, the CDU indicated a CG % well within range every time. Researching the forums, I began to suspect the well known FS weather issues were the source. FSUIPC, according to most, would fix the problem, so I paid the $ to register FSUIPC. The issues appear to have stopped which confirms my suspicion that weather was the culprit. So far so good. :Praying:Now, I would like to optimize the FSUIPC settings, but I have been completely unable to find anything definitive in this or any other forum. Could somebody give me a list or screenshots of "optimal" FSUIPC settings for PMDG 747-400, FS2004, using Active Sky 6.5? Muchas GraciasFidel Lopez

I use Active Sky Advanced, but the settings for FSUIPC registered I share below should work just as good. The wind smoothing prevents rapid wind shifts, and I have baro and temperature smoothing enabled as well to eliminate errant readings that can ruin your cruise. I fly the PMDG 747 and MD11 exclusively, most often on long hauls involving ocean crossings, and can report that I never have any "game ending" situations like S-turns or the a/c falling from the sky because of high cruise temps. Also of note, you can use FSUIPC to save your flight/panel state automatically at specific intervals in case FSX crashes. Its in the 4th screenshot here, and I have it turned on to save the flight every 2 minutes. It's a life saver for that feature alone! I have researched these forums and decided these settings provide the most benefit for me based on my experiences with FSX.Hope these settings help.

For FSUIPC 3 weather settings, set them to defaults as noted in the AS65 documentation. Under the AS65 options regarding weather, you'll find settings that tell FSUIPC how to act. Here's my AS65 weather options:

I recommend a more agressive wind smoothing than 1 kt/deg per second.... something like 1 kt/deg per 8 seconds works much better.

I agree. Even the default I found wasnt good enough. To add some differences in my settings, I suppress variance, I DO NOT suppress turbulence, add icing and turbulence in clouds. I also turn off in ASE adding stations, both options to do that, as it just bollocks up the whole winds aloft.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a shot. Fidel Lopez
