October 12, 200916 yr This is the 3rd time this has happened. Here are the steps...1) flip through several views - outside, twr, top-down and so forth2) return to the VC3) All sound is GONE... using the advice from a response to my earlier (yesterday) post. I tapped "Q" (Sound)4) Sound returned to the SIMNo kidding. So EDWW_A_CTR came online (it never fails... they always appear when adrenaline is flowing).5) Then - as it happened 48hours ago - I lost all voice commAgain - this has to be an internal bug. Because, at least, it happened twice within 48hours.Once more. The guys that wrote this code needs to respond. As a retired Software Engineer - I'm always mindful of pressing JUST THE RIGHT KEYS to not crash the software (for the client demo). Then the client got smart and started to - blindly - press ALL the keys... just before breaking for LUNCH.See where I'm going with this?Awaiting the inside track FIX... October 12, 200916 yr Keith,What Client software are you using for on-line flights?Oops, you said all sound .. engine sound? Or just on-line COMMS?Do you have multiple monitors?Does it only happen when flying on-line?In the past I have pressed the "mute" rocker switch on my headset ... during approach vectors! I know. But apparently others have experienced it... as the FIX came from another another member on this forum... [AND IT WORKS]... that is... Press <Q> to reactivate sound. I love when the fix is that simple. But "Why?"I use FSInn for ATC COMMs and Ventrilo for VA COMMs.The 1st time this problem surfaced... I was merrily simming along 'Down Under' in the JS41. I switched views - and inadvertently lost audible engine/environmental sound after returning to the VC. I couldn't figure out what went wrong. So after cussing in several made-up languages after landing, I immediately loaded another saved flight/and aircraft.I've learned to NEVER load the PMDG MD11 as a default save flight. So, after loading the SAFE aircraft/flight, I selected the MD11. No problem.I connected to Ventrilo and FSInn and got airborne with my VA's weekend flight - NO ATC present at take off. NOTE: I didn't hear the familiar BEEP when FSInn connects either... but saw the Vatsim Header flash across the top of the screen. The other pilots could hear me. I could see the green <transmit> light activate when I pressed the PTT button. I could see their green transmit lights reciprocate - indicating they were responding. But I could NOT hear anything. On the other hand, ATC could NOT hear me nor I hear them. So, making up some more languages to cuss in... I pulled the plug and continued living the rest of my life. The same thing happened again today.Add to that, I could NOT get the spoilers to re-set and decided I would take off anyway.So. There you have the 411 info as you requested. I hope all of these 'issues' will be sorted out by SP-1?Thanks for your concern,Cheers,Keith H70 Liquid Cooling - GTX760 2Gb - 240Gb SSD w/Win7 Ultimate 64bit - Western Digital VelociRaptors w/FSX-Accel - FSGRW Engine - FPS Limiter v0.2 (30+fps)
October 12, 200916 yr Keith,On 16 March 2008 I posted a "Voice Chat problem" using FSINN on VATSIM forum (FSInn Help section).I could not get it resolved. In my case I went to Squawkbox and had no more problems. But, I am not sure if FSINN has anthing to do with your problem...Like I asked in previous post.Does the problem happen when not flying on-line?Do you loose all sound .. like engine sound? Or just on-line COMMS?Do you have multiple monitors? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
October 13, 200916 yr Hi Keith,An easy way to check where the problem is:1. Download sqawkbox (it is free)2. Uninstall FSInn3 Install squawkbox4. Re-do one of the flight where you encountered a voice problem After this check you will be able to ascertain which software creates the problem.Cheers Best Regards, Michael A. R. Clavier

I have numerous add-ons (payware) including the PMDG MD11 and I have flawless COMMS with both Ventrilo and FSInn/Vatsim.The problem only surfaces (todate) with the JS41. The new kid on the block!!!![A] Why would I fly OFF-LINE? That's inconceivable! I fly with a VA and am an &@($*'t HUB Manager over at KLAX.[A] All sound is gone. The magical "Q" keypress (FSX's default ON/OFF Sound toggle) brings back sound to the VC.I suspect that whatever internal trigger has been pulled (by flipping through the different views)... the damage (to the sound engine) has already occured. 'Cause... that's when I immediately loose ATC/FSInn/Vatsim.Apparently, the problem is not unique to myself as another poster listed the fix - PRESS "Q". And it works!!!![A] Both engine/environmental and PTT COMM capability is gone. [echo] "Q" keypress restores engine sounds. This makes me think that there is a bug in switching through the myriad of views.[A] I have a single wide-screen F/P monitor.I relieved myself of Squawkbox (and a large bottle of Alleve) many many months ago as it (SB) would simply blow its stack in the middle of a flight displaying some cryptic reference to a Drive G:\.Clearly that's some sloppy internal SB coding. I don't have a drive G: in my hookup! I know other members in my VA who have also said bye bye to SB for similar reasons. You are (indeed) the fortunate one... using SB.Consequently, the suggestion of going back to SB - in my current configuration/profile - is unthinkable!Ok! Now you have the answers to your questions.I'm ready for simulator programmer/designer feedback. Clearly - like the spoilers that don't [always] reset is a KNOWN bug, it's more than likely that 'loss of sound by switching views' is a DISCOVERED bug?I'm still working on trying to reproduce why I [sometimes] have 100% t/o configuration and at other times I get the 'horn' when I press the 'test' button and on application of t/o power on the t/o roll. Thanks for your input.Cheers,Keith H70 Liquid Cooling - GTX760 2Gb - 240Gb SSD w/Win7 Ultimate 64bit - Western Digital VelociRaptors w/FSX-Accel - FSGRW Engine - FPS Limiter v0.2 (30+fps)

How can I be gracious. "NO!" It ain't gonna happen on this end - removing FSInn and going back to SB. Did I say "NO!". Oh yes... I did.Listen up soldier! Here's the 1-2-3 of this debacle. October 13, 200916 yr KeithIf the great majority is not experiencing the problem, then it must be something specific to your system and configuration. I would not automatically blame it to the JS41 even if it's the only plane where you experience this.Have you modified the keys that change VC views? What keys are they? (even default ones, I don't use them so can't remember)Similar problems with the same cure have been reported. They have usually been FSX/driver conflicts. October 13, 200916 yr Keith,Hello again Vonmar,I don't think FSInn has anything to do with the current problem.** Ok.** But it had caused problems for me and many other people per posts on VATSIM.I have numerous add-ons (payware) including the PMDG MD11 and I have flawless COMMS with both Ventrilo and FSInn/Vatsim.** You did not mention this important information in your original post. The problem only surfaces (todate) with the JS41. The new kid on the block!!!!** You did not mention this important information in your original post.[A] Why would I fly OFF-LINE? That's inconceivable! I fly with a VA and am an &@($*'t HUB Manager over at KLAX.** IMO, a troubleshooting step to check your current problem.** I still think it must be ruled out.** I did a lot of machine language programming to fix buggie software.** If, for example, the problem also happens offline with default MSFS aircraft it is not a problem with PMDG.** But, never got that far in troubleshooting this problem. I fly with a VA.** So do Iand am an &@($*'t HUB Manager over at KLAX.** And I am a pilot and I have flown LAX airspace.[A] All sound is gone. The magical "Q" keypress (FSX's default ON/OFF Sound toggle) brings back sound to the VC.** I just wanted to verify "all sounds" were. No harm done by me asking.I suspect that whatever internal trigger has been pulled (by flipping through the different views)... the damage (to the sound engine) has already occured. 'Cause... that's when I immediately loose ATC/FSInn/Vatsim.** Ok.** And, if a client program has MSFS "focus" (as with my dual monitors) it will cause all sound to stop until the FS ** screen (FS) is clicked on (refocused).Apparently, the problem is not unique to myself as another poster listed the fix - PRESS "Q". And it works!!!!** Right, but I would think an internal "code" problem would be causing "many" on-line pilots "voice" problems.[A] Both engine/environmental and PTT COMM capability is gone.
