Fengz TreeGen 1.0 Question

Featured Replies

Hey, I tried Fengz TreeGen and am getting a thin, ghosted border at the top of all of the tree tiles. Someone must have had this happen before because this was just a straight download and replacement of 5 textures in the global texture folder.Mark

Do you still get that layer if you use the default textures again? Sounds more like the FS haze layer. I just tried his trees and didn't get that effect.

Yeah, the second I put back the 5 original FS9 textures, the ghosted top tile border disappeared and everything was back to normal again. So I tested it one more time. I simply dropped Fengz textures into the global FS9 texture directory, confirmed that the 5 original files were replaced, and the ghosted border reappeared.I've got a few other tree texture libraries installed, (as probably most of us have), and they are as follows...Scenery\Generic\Scenery...ag_tree_lib.BGLAgen_XTrees_lib9_2.BGLGGv3_XTrees_lib9_0.BGLScenery\Base\Scenery...Trees_0.bglStatic Object Libraries...RWY12\ag_tree_lib.BGLRWY12\kmsy trees.BGLRWY12\add_SeevKahn_Trees.BGLMatthew Tomkins\Matt's TreesArno Gerretsen\Tree ObjectsScot Ingram\ABW Tree LibraryAnything look out of the ordinary or incompatible?Mark

Hi,It sounds like your video card may be mipmapping the tree's texture, which is picking up the bottom edge of the texture and displaying it along the top (due to mipmap wraparound). Apparently the default textures have a little bit of clear texture along the bottom, and thus don't exhibit this effect.Just a guess...

Ah...interesting. Is there a fix other then keeping the default textures? I like the way Fengz trees look, without the border ghosts of course :)Mark

Hi MarkYou've probably thought of this already - but how about editing the textures as per Tom's idea?Dave

Thanks Dave and Slait...I will do that. I'll DXT them and see if that does the trick. If it does or not, I'll let everyone know. Also, if anyone has a favorite tree texture besides Fengz, shout it out :)Mark
