October 21, 200916 yr Dear Simmers,Could you kindly tell me what does the real difference is when Fs runs with frames locked or unlimited?1 thing is for sure that is happening on my system, that when the fps go up more than 100 fps ( Window Mode ) the fs sound itself gets cracked.I Usually run Fs on Maximzed Window so that the Anitlising and all that stuff will come into place. ( I don't have the Nvida Enhancer, so I use the ones from the Nvdia Control Panel)What's the best for my system? My Specs are Quadcore Q660, Asus P5Nt-Deluxe,WD 150GB HD, 8800 GTX OC2 -Fs 9 is running on Windows 7 Ultimate I thank you in advance.Regards,Bus320
October 21, 200916 yr What works best for me is to have FS9 locked at what I'm happy with and to have FSX unlocked. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
October 21, 200916 yr There are quite a few threads recently talking specifically about FPS being locked and unlocked. Use search and find those, a lot of information in them.To get you started, it's personal preference and individual computers. Some people swear that the sim is completely smooth and best as can be by leaving FPS locked at 25FPS. I find that to be completely wrong. (personal opinion and observation)I used to fly locked at 30fps, but now that I fly with 60fps (v-sync locked) I can not image going back to 30 and get frustrated when FPS drops below 40. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |
October 21, 200916 yr I have an older system and have always locked the frames at 30. Quite some time ago, I read that a lock of 31 was recommended with nHancer. Since then, I've kept frames locked at 31, but I honestly couldn't say whether it made any difference. I haven't used unlocked frames for a couple of years, but I'm quite happy with my current performance.Bob

Personally for my machine locked at 40FPS is great. Anything below or above introduces Micro-Stutters and unlocked cause stutters when FPS drop from 100+ to 40 or 60. So I would suggest you play around with it, always use the same flight, same plane, same time of day, just try with all different settings and see which one provides the best results for you.-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
