JS 4100 EGT

Featured Replies

First of all -- thx for the JS 4100 -- it is the best aircraft I ever flown on FS, and I enjoy fs since a lot of years. This little prop is fantastic and really joyfull. It works on my system without any mistakes. But, as in the title written, I had one question because of the EGT (Exhaust Gas Temeratur) of the turbines. If I want to fly a rotation between a few airports, normaly after arrival at one airport I shut the engines down. Now after shutdown the EGT is high and calm down very slowly so that I must wait minute over minute to start the engines again for my next trip. Problem is that if I start the engines again with EGT round about 300 degress my engines get on fire. Question 1: How low must be the EGT to start engins again, and is there a possibility to make the calm down of the EGT after shutdown the engines faster?Question 2: How do I resart engine in air -- with this high egt?Question 3: I can get my squak code only to number 7 - numer 8 and 9 is on all four digits not possible - is this a bug?Thx for your anwers -- and now I get on my next trip from EDDS (Stuttgart/Germany) to EDDC (Dresden/Germany)Much GreetingsAndreas

According to AOM, the EGT must be at 200 degr. or below before attempting a restart.Other then that I do have the same question. So any other help here is appreciated.

go to the overhead panel, find the "MANUAL START" switch, rotate it to "ENERGISE", then hit START. You should see the engine cranks up and EGT drops fast

To elaborate on this - you do this before the engine start when the engine is hot. It basically cranks the engine without igniting, so that the air forced through it cools it down. Keep it cranking for 15-20 sec (I am not sure about the standard procedure without looking it up...), and if it isn't cool enough, repeat after a minute. When the temp is down, do a normal start.Have fun with the JS,Jan

I was trying that procedure of ENERGISE and START, but nothing happens..... The START pops out aftera second or two.

Happy flying!

Same here. I think this is a problem after SP1, because before I had no problems with this method. A workaround: set the manual knob to energise and turn the start master to left or right, before hitting start. After hitting start you can turn the start master back to neutral.
