How much deterioration in perf can I expect going to 1920 x 1200 from 1680 x 1050?

Featured Replies

I think I found a jewel to consider moving up to 1920 x 1200 on: Dell's IPS panel U2140. Looks like a keeper, with low input lag, etc. The only concern I have now is, how hard will that be on processing overhead compared to what I am using now, a Dell 1680 x 1050 display (gr8 in itself, as an IPS panel). I know I can expect some deterioration in other games that are heavy GPU games, but FSX I'm not sure what to expect. Thanks,Noel

Noel,With your current hardware, I believe your performance decrease going to 1920 x 1200 will be negligible even with GPU dependent games. Your current card is not feeling any pressure at all from a resolution of 1600 x 1200 (its laughing at it).

Well, I'm actually running 1680 x 1050 on the current Dell I have. So it must be guffawing at that resolution. I think with GPU games I figured I'd see about a 12% loss in performance, from looking at Toms or somewhere. Now I'll go edit my sig . . .

I am almost sure, that the frame rates will be exactly the same.I remember moving from 1 x 1680x1050 to 3 x 1680x1050 on CPU and GPU similar to Yours. FPS drop was almost none.
